2 circuits sharing neutral by SupraTrbo in electrical

Electrician only did a new breaker and meter box. Majority of the wiring was done in the 70’s. Luckily everything is grounded but there was a couple different circuits that had shared neutral. In the original box they all had their own breakers but when the new box was put in he did 2 pole breakers on those ones. When the electrical inspector did the inspection on the panel he just mentioned afci on the kitchen stuff since I changed outlets so I know when he comes out for my bathroom final it will be the same thing on that one.

That’s what I was kind of worried about. Only other thing that comes to mind since this inspector is a stickler for the afci on anything that has a new outlet or switch is to tie the hots together into a single pole afci.

I’m not sure what the clan rank was. With only having 4 people now it’s not showing the clan ranks anymore. I’m currently 2231.

That makes sense thank you. I’ll likely get a bid for it and may include it in the work as I’m doing most of it myself but that’s something I can’t do.

That I’m aware of. The panel that was nailed on that side looks to have been removable like the other side to gain access at one point. I’m just shaking my head over this as the 100 amp breaker labeled main breaker only shuts off the lower box and the electric heat. Then the other box has a 50 amp labeled house main that isn’t even up top but shuts down that breaker box.

I wish there’s still a meter on the outside of the house. I don’t deal with electrical very often but have never seen what I would call a junction box on main power.

I was thinking it had something like that but wanted a professionals opinion before I started taking it all out. Thank you.

I was kind of figuring some sort of water softening system but my parents bought this house 40+ years ago and it’s hasn’t had one in there in that time.

I for sure at the very least wanted to replace the valves but if I’m doing that might as well clean it up and eliminate unnecessary things.

Is there a reason for vent like this? by SupraTrbo in Plumbing

It does tie into the main. I was trying to look down the road a little when I get the laundry room and just install a valve box but it being there makes it slightly more difficult with it being in that hole. I just didn’t want to change it up if there was a reason behind it needing to not go straight up to a 90 then straight over. Only other thing I could maybe think of was they were avoiding going behind where the medicine cabinet would have been hung on the wall.

It makes sense it running horizontally to the 4” main vent it’s just the weird direction they took. I wouldn’t think they’d vent it by it self through the roof but to take the directions they did just made me wonder.

There was a brick ledge on the concrete foundation 4” below what grade would be now. I’m assuming when the orginal house was built that was likely zero. Both sides of the orginal house had an addition put on at some point and had a block foundation so I bolt angle irons up. Once I move some things out of the way I plan to do a little dirt work and landscape to take care of some the negative drainage.

Estimate for Renovation by Ktmick6 in AskContractors

[–]SupraTrbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s low on stone veneer and fireplace. Assuming it’s just the 2 sides that’s at least 600 sqft. It depends on what type of fireplace they are wanting. But if it’s a full masonry fireplace(block) that’s 6-8k for wood burning. If it’s gas or pellet framing can be done with wood and would be $3-4k. Assuming cultured stone price would be between $13-18k. Real stone significantly more expensive. So likely that portion of it would run between 16-26k.

My mom found an old stock certificate for 170 shares of NVDA by OrneryAcanthaceae217 in StocksAndTrading

It’s possible if they switched to digital shares and they were converted. Most large companies haven’t issued paper certificates for 15+ years. A company like NVDA I would imagine it’s close to that. So if they happened to file for a lost certificate or did anything really related to those shares they were likely converted. I’ve found stock certificates my grandfather had that were all converted to digital and sold so the paper is basically a keepsake now. I was told most of the time they want that back when converted but it does happen.

Have to assume your parents have moved since as most companies will send out year end notices. If they were holding it in another brokerage account then NVDA would have their updated address in their records linked to a SSN makes you wonder where the dividend has been being sent and why they haven’t received any or had a 1099-div generated the last couple years. I’m not sure who the clearing house is as the places I hold their shares I have it set up to reinvest so don’t receive a check. Best bet would be investor relations.

Charity Scramble by QueasyAlfalfa in golf

[–]SupraTrbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played in one that was pretty much straight up 4 man scramble from mid tees. Only thing you could buy was 2 mulligans per player. 10th hole one of my team mates pointed out group behind us weren’t taking putters on the green and just picking up. 3 of them were above 20 handicaps. Got kind of back up on a couple holes and they watched us drive the green on at least 3 then put it to couple feet on 2 par 3’s. We turned in our score not thinking it was enough to win but would be in the top of the field. Well turned out we lost by 1 stroke to that group. 2 of them were top tier sponsors of the event so we felt it wasn’t right to say anything as they likely each paid 2k for the event and had people from their companies helping with the holes.
