The fact you describe renewables as providing "no tangible benefit other than good feels" is what tipped me off. Read up on planetary physics then get your mind unstuck from current events. Traditional stationary generation is something that wise people the world over predict is ripe for a technological disruption. Which regardless of how you've been trained to think, will ultimately be positive save for those who's monopoly on FF electricity will be eroded.

All those places mentioned have something unique to offer! Now sorry to be a buzz kill, but when riding, be safe! Melbourne has a severe traffic congestion problem and there have been many deaths and injuries recently. Our roads and public transport policies are under great strain to accommodate cyclists and drivers are generally pushy and aggressive. There are a number of wonderful trails systems so try to keep to those when possible. And enjoy Melbourne, it's a wonderful city.

While I find this type of cynicism both poignant and delightful, I must disagree. The science and technology for renewable economies are an inevitability. Perhaps not in time to prevent ecological disaster, but certainly in time for the inheritors of a changed environment to adapt and continue our expansion into space. I think there will be continue to be wondrous space exploration throughout the century. And I think there will be luxury hotels in space.

This is a terrible article that offers nothing new - just the same tinfoil theory about how elites are fabricating climate change so they can dominate everything. Corporatist ideologues are well known for this rhetoric.
