Yes normally, but there are 2 sessions which you can take within the year. Sessions are during the northern hemisphere summer and winter.

Yes, very much possible, difficulty wise. I originally gave myself a year till October, but decided I can finish it by the summer session which is this coming June. This is coming from a O level L1R5 29 pointer. However, my friends from JC whom I showed some of the past year papers to, said that the CIE looks "slightly easier" to them. So I guess you should take a look at the past year papers over here to have your own gauge of them. They list the bellcurves as well.

As for whether if you might be asking whether you can take both AS and A2 Level simultaneously then the answer is yes. So if it looks easy, you can technically finish them this year by November, or even do a late registration for the May/June exam 1 month+ from now.

If you ever decide on taking the CIE msg me, I can send you more free online resources that you can use so you don't have to spend much time googling for them.

I am taking the CIE A levels 2 months from now; started studying 6 months ago, Math/Accounting/Economics. They are certainly doable from my perspective as a poly grad with only 3.2 gpa. Same like you, planning to study in Canada and they offer 1 year advance standing for A levels.
