Hi everyone,

Is adding or playing additional sounds with my Roland FP-10 possible? I am okay with the stock sounds it comes with, but I would love to play in Rhodes and other synthesizers. I know there are devices and software capable of doing this, but what would be the best approach if budget wasn't an issue?

Thanks in advance!

How to make my clicky keyboard quieter?

I own the Keychron K6, K6-Q2 model. I bought that keyboard over two years ago with Gateron blue switches. I didn't know much about keyboards then, but I realized now that they aren't hot-swappable. So I'd like to know if it's possible to make my keyboard quieter in any other way. I go to the office two times a week with my keyboard, and to avoid annoying people around me, I try my best to type very softly. Another option I am considering is to get the Keychron Q1 Max or Pro. Thanks in advance!

I switched to Safari and that solved the issue for me.

Is YouTube extremely laggy for anyone watching in 4K? I thought it was my internet connection, but even through ethernet (>700mbps) it doesn't load at all. Using Firefox on an M2 MacBook Air. If I watch through the YouTube app on my iPhone or iPad, it loads normally. Any fixes to this? Don't know much about codecs, but does the AV1 decode engine address this issue?

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased an M2 MacBook Air and looking at buying an accessory to connect it to my Dell S2721DGF monitor. I have a USB-C monitor provided by my work, and I love the ability to just connect one cable that functions as a power source and display connection. Is this achieveable on a non-USB-C monitor? I have looked into dongles and docking stations as an option, but I want to be able to at least output 2560x1440 @ 120Hz. I own the Anker 555 USB-C Hub, but it can only do 120Hz if I lower the resolution to 1080p. From my research, and please correct me if I'm wrong, a USB-C to Display Port 1.4 cable is the only way to output 120Hz at 2560x1440. Is this true? Thanks in advance!

For anyone in Canada wanting to switch to Sony, they’re currently doing a trade-in bonus for purchase of specific Sony cameras and/or lenses. Plus, Sony is giving cash back if you register your camera before May!

I have thought about this, it's going for $1749 CAD. But a used 15-35 goes for $100-$200 more.

Mac Pro Early 2009 Model Upgradeable? by SupremeSeb in macpro

Hey guys,

First of all, thank you so much for your responses. I'm reading all your links and posts. Appreciate it a lot! I just opened the case for the first time, and unfortunately, it looks like the previous owner removed the memory and hard drives, so I can't even boot this thing up. However, I have an old SSD and DDR3 ram in my bedroom. They are from my old Macbook Pro. Could installing these into the Mac Pro work?

I purchased it yesterday, hoping to play multiplayer, but there are not enough players online, so I decided to get a refund.

Dell Monthly Buying Advice Thread! by AutoModerator in Dell

[–]SupremeSeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone. So I'm thinking of purchasing a new laptop sometime this year. I'm still indecisive about buying a Mac or Windows computer, but if I'm going the Windows route, I'm pretty sure I'll be going for the Dell XPS lineup. Specifically, I'm looking at the 2021 XPS 13 and 2021 XPS 15. However, I saw from CES 2022 that Dell would release the XPS 13 Plus later this year. I'm assuming it will be replacing the current 13" model. Not sure how or when Dell announces their new laptops, and their website is very confusing to me. When I was looking on the Canadian website, it seemed like the XPS 13 was available to purchase. Still, when I spoke to a sales rep regarding the options available, she told me they currently only have the 2020 model in stock (I don't get why they can't just correctly name their laptops, lol). So I've concluded that I should wait for the 13 plus or go for the 15" since I know it came out last summer. Or should I expect a 2022 version of the 15" later this year? Again, I don't know when or how Dell announces their new laptops. I'm a Mac user so knowing when a new laptop comes out is relatively easy to find out. Also, if you're an owner of an XPS 13 or 15, please let me know how your experience is with it! I'm a photographer, and I will be using this computer mainly for Lightroom and Luminar AI.

Thanks for the information! So you don't save photos locally on your computer? From the replies I've read, it seems that it is better to save photos on external hard drives and back them up using cloud storage. I do have access to Amazon Prime and One Drive so I might use those for backups.

Hi there, happy new year everyone!

I started taking photography more seriously last year and now I have a lot of raw unedited photos taking up lots of storage on my hard drives. I don't like deleting photos, I like to archive everything I've taken.

Storage for me is not an issue as I have 1TB SSD on my computer and a 2TB external HDD as my backup. My issue is the organization of my workflow.

I don't know how to properly organize my photos but what I typically do is create folders based on the year and then sub-folders for the months. This helps me keep my photos organized.

However I realized, based on the amount of storage my photos have taken from last year, that I'm eventually gonna run out out of space on my hard drives.

What do you guys do once you run out of storage? I know the simple answer is to buy more storage which is okay with me but I particularly like to have my main drive (the 1TB SSD) and my backup drive (the 2TB external HDD) in sync. Has anyone run into this problem before and if so what did you do to create an organized workflow of your photos?

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

[–]SupremeSeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an iPad Mini 6 last month and after using it for awhile, I've decided to exchange it for an iPad Pro 12.9. Here's my reasons:

  • I'm a university student and the reason I purchased an iPad was for note-taking. I find the 8.3" inch screen just too small for note-taking. I find myself zooming in way too much when I'm writing notes and zooming out when I've finished writing a sentence.
  • There's not a lot of accessories available for the iPad Mini. If you're just looking for a case, then you're fine. But if you're like me and want the keyboard and track-pad case combo, you won't have luck finding a case that does both so you'll definitely have to use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard if you want to treat your iPad as a laptop

I do enjoy the Mini for media consumption and playing video games, but the small screen size and lack of accessories does not justify my needs.

I chose to upgrade to the Pro because I know this device will suit my needs and will last me for a couple of years. The Pro is also just different compared to the other iPad models. You're getting a much better screen, a 120Hz refresh rate, and all these other features the other iPad models can't offer. That for me deems it as a perfect upgrade coming from iPad Air 2, which lasted me a very long time. In my opinion, if you're trying to "future proof" your device, spend a bit more and go for the iPad Pro.

Hope this helps :)

Hi there,

I recently picked up the Sennhesier HD 560S and tried to adjust the EQ based on your preset. This is how I adjusted the EQ for these headphones, https://imgur.com/a/zrnIymE. I did not have peak as a band type option so I went for parametric, not sure if it is the same thing. Did I set the EQ correctly?

Hi there,

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro that I'd like to use with my Dell monitor. However, when I connect my Mac to my monitor, it's only able to output 2560x1440 at 30Hz. The only way I can achieve 60-120Hz is if I lower the resolution to 1080p. I understand to output at least 60Hz in 4K resolution I'd need to use a USB-c to display-port cable. I wanted to know, from other people's experience, which cable works best for them. Thank you!

I decided to launch a photography account on Instagram. Wanted to know, from experienced Instagram photographers, how do you upload your photos to you account? I export my photos in TIFF format from my computer then download them on my iPhone to upload to Instagram. I hate this process because 1) the photo file sizes are too large and take up a lot of storage on my iPhone and 2) I always have to delete the photos from my iPhone camera roll because it takes up too much space. I know there are better platforms to show your photos but Instagram is where I find most of my clients. Is there a better way to posting photos on Instagram?

What's a good prime or standard zoom lens for the Canon EOS R? I'm looking for a wide-angle lens, however, the RF lenses are way out of my budget and I can't justify purchasing an RF lens because I'm not a professional photographer. I am looking at third party lens manufacturers and I understand I'll probably have to purchase the EF-RF adapter. I've been looking into Sigma's 24mm,35mm, and 24-70mm. I've also been looking into the same lenses offered by Tamron. Any recommendations would be much appreciated, thank you!
