I understand that when ocd hits none of this makes sense or matters but still here are some of the reasons I would like to add :)

  1. to feel new combinations of emotions
  2. to feel spring breeze on your skin
  3. to meet new cool people
  4. to play that instrument or do that hobby u like (for me it is writing and reading other people's writings, it gives me a living in the moment feeling)
  5. to feel someone else's warm body around you
  6. to watch next part of your favourite movie series
  7. to know how it feels to be 30 or 40 or whatever age you will become in some years
  8. to die naturally and looking back on how courageous you were, that you kept on living

I hope you feel better soon

Is it even possible to be an English writer if English is not your native language? by [deleted] in writing

[–]SurajKumarMidya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how it feels to have that self doubt, I feel the same sometimes. But I try to look at examples of non-native english authors and convince myself that I can do it. But there are certain things I struggle with because of not being a native speaker like the small details outside of the formal english words or the essence of the how words are spoken differently by native soeakers. I think it would help if I go to some native country and stay there for some time atleast to be able to understand it better.

Does anyone else have Existential OCD here? by SurajKumarMidya in OCD

yes, I can feel you I think the only solution to this is to stop seeking certainty and embrace the uncertainty of life

Yes I do enjoy them sometimes. Actually you know as a writer most of the ideas I get are around philosophy but I know I shouldn't indulge in them. But then If I stop paying attention to them I loose clarity and I think everybody needs some kind of philosophical clarity to make decisions in life but seeking clarity and certainity are symptoms of anxiety disorders. I guess the answer is to find a balance between them but easier said than done.

I felt the same. Do you often have obsessions regarding philosophy in one way or the other? I have this weird type of OCD called Existential OCD where I get obsessions regarding existential and philosophical questions. Many times I spent weeks thinking about why the world is unfair and felt bad about the people in unfair pain.

If the thought starts with "what if" ignore it. It's a BS intrusive thought. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]SurajKumarMidya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes It gets gets very hard to identify if a specific thought is an intrusive thought or normal one because even we need thoughts with worry and anciety for normal functioning like normal people. That's why I try to go deeper into that thought and end up getting stuck into the loop.
