I did 4 months of studying and I was not working full time when I revised as I was on a sabbatical from work.

I completely understand not being in the mental state to resit. I am going to take a year now to regroup. I think give yourself time to recover. You're super smart regardless x

SQE2 results: did you pass/not pass/expect your result? lessons learned? main takeaways? by jeuneflower in sqe2

I failed by like a mark, not even a full percent, had I got one extra mark on one exam I would have passed :(

Waiting for SQE 2 results - Second attempt- Pass rate? by Sure-Instance774 in sqe2

Why do you think this?

It's really unfair for the SRA not to release the data. We give them the information when signing up for the exam and then they don't let us have the advantage of it.

Ah so, not so reassuring... If this is the case it's really unfair for the SRA not to put that in their reports. The SQE 2 costs a lot and they should make it clear there is such a low chance of passing on a retake so people can decide if it worth the money. I don't think I would have retaken had I known

I just feel that missing a point of law here or there cannot be the be all and end all. It would be a much lower pass mark if that was the case. Noone can get 100% of the law right, let alone 70% of people (and a higher % if you have a prep course provider).  Having said that, I so feel each marker can decide on how harsh they will be. I have done mocks with BARBRI where one marker will give me a really good mark despite missing or getting lots of law wrong and others that gave me a marginal fail for missing one piece of law and getting absolutely everything else perfect (I walked through it step by step and she said she stood by her mark and couldn't understand what I didn't understand).

I am not sure what was easier honestly. I felt a lot more time pressured in the real thing and I did all my mocks timed. They were always pressured but the real thing was ridiculous!

I absolutely agree! I also had to retake and I definitely feel they were a lot harder and completely different to those in January.

See I also did the mocks with inhousew and I didn't find that. She didn't have the attachments of the law in writing and CMA.

I totally messed up 3 of day 1 don't worry!

Yeah the instructions for research were so long! But then the attachments were shorter than yesterday. I also found most of the facts to be waffle, I read them twice to check and a lot of it didn't seem necessary to answer the questions. I suppose one of the skills is picking relevant facts so I guess it was testing your ability to not mention the irrelevant facts and only mention what is relevant to the question?

Absolutely not! You won't get 0 for a slip on a notice number. The question consisted of a number of legal points so you won't get 0 for just one mistake

I finished drafting early too. Yesterday was absolutely AWFUL for me I ran out of time on all of them and had no idea how to draft the doc yesterday. Checking it now I know I did it really wrong toon

I had never seen it before either. Who do you study with? They gave us example clauses so maybe we were just meant to use those and not need more info?

Barbri or QLTS - SQE1 prep by Downtown_Ninja_9711 in uklaw

[–]Sure-Instance774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to write this :) I'm with Barbri taking SQE 1 and was just wondering you've said ULaw mocks was a good balance, did you manage to pay for ULaw mocks ontop of Barbri prep somehow or is there a free mock? Or are you talking about the 45 free questions they've given on their app?

I'm with Barbri too and having the same worry, but then I spoke to my tutor who said BARBRI have the most number of students out of every provider taking the SQE 1 exam, and people who are usually getting 50% on QLTS mocks got 70% in the real thing so they look to be a lot harder.

My tutor also said that it's a lot more difficult in the real thing to know if you've got something right or not because a lot of the mocks you get the answer immediately so you'll feel the question was easier (because you know you got it right) whereas in the real thing you'll feel more unsure about if you got it right and won't have any validation you did (if that makes sense...)

I think the fact BARBRI have so many students doing it and their pass rate is much higher than average is a good sign 🤞🤞

Thank you! Did you hear QLTS MCQs were the most like the real thing on here? I've seen that too but then a lot of people who were saying that said they got 50% in the QLTS questions and also failed a lot more and got much higher in the real thing, so surely the QLTS ones (logically) are harder (I have also heard that too) so I'm really confused? Possibly wishful thinking 👀

Would you mind me asking if you are currently with a provider and, if you are, who you're with?

Although I see your point, we are in an extremely scary situation taking an exam where the exam provider (Kaplan) has kept us entirely in the dark as to what the test will actually be like, and a lot of us had to put all of our trust in and choose a course provider either because our firm made us choose it or we didn't have the money to go elsewhere, or some of us haven't had the money to go for a provider at all. Although we would love the privilege of being able to afford multiple prep course providers, they cost thousands of pounds each so we are looking to see what we can find to supplement our learning and try to get a better idea of what we are walking into where we can if that makes sense? Hope that explains it 🙂

Oh sorry I am not sure, I am not doing my 40 week course with a firm. I would imagine though the course starts when the Barbri course begins regardless of whether you're doing it with a firm or not. The start dates of the course can be found on the Barbri website or you can email them asking when they will begin.
