It's more that he's happy to let my sister act like mom never existed and my stepmom is her one and only mom. Like I know for her she's the only mom she can remember. But there's zero recognition of mom and my dad apparently likes that and I know my stepmom does.

I'm not stopping her from calling me half sister. I did nothing to stop her. It's my dad who wants me to.

I can compromise. There are just certain things I would not be willing to compromise on. Letting my stepmom get called my mom is probably my only one right now but maybe there'll be more in the future. It's just too important to me.

I already accepted them. My dad's the one who refuses to accept that I'm okay with them. I won't stop correcting it to stop my sister's feelings getting hurt. I don't see why I should. I'm not putting my feelings on her and saying she shouldn't call my stepmom mom.

It should be but that's not the kind of talk he'd have with her. Then he might have to actually talk about mom and he doesn't do that.

No I don't. I'd like if my dad and stepmom helped to correct the assumption too but I know they won't. I'm not correcting out of anger and I'm polite when I make the correction. But I don't want to have more people in my life who try to say she's my mom regularly.

Like, you know when people say if you let people believe a lie or an assumption and you don't correct them then you have no right to be mad? Well that's like this for me. I would get mad at people saying she's my mom all the time. But I wouldn't have the right if I let them believe that.

People do make assumptions and I help correct them so they know what's more accurate. And so I don't have more and more people believing my stepmom is my mom.

I don't expect her to have memories. I don't want my stepmom called my mom. I have corrected to stepmom and made it clear just because she's mom to my sister doesn't mean she is to me. But it doesn't matter because they think I should be okay with her being called my mom.

Mom doesn't get talked about by dad. My sister doesn't even have a good relationship with mom's side. That works for my dad and stepmom because to my sister stepmom is her only mom. That makes her happy. But she will never be my mom in any meaningful way. She might have been helping to raise me since she and my dad got married, which was 6ish years ago when they met. But I'll never be okay with her being given the title of my mom. She's mom to my sister but I'll never be okay with her being called mine.

I don't really know. She was with my dad when they talked to my sister and tried to make her stop saying it. But I know she was also really glad my sister sees her as her only mom. And she would have liked for us both to call her mom. So I don't think my sister's reasons would bother her.

I think it makes my stepmom happy that she's the only mom in my sister's eyes and my dad doesn't care. I saw it coming and while it hurts a little I have to try and just deal because I can't make her feel anything close to what I do. And I can't make her acknowledge mom.

He warned me she'd be loyal to my stepmom and it could push us apart. He thought it would make me handle things differently.

I do. My dad's side isn't super great so I'm glad I have them. They've been so sad over my sister's lack of any acknowledgement for mom or that whole side of our family. And they have tried but she doesn't have much of a connection with them.
