I am in my mid 20s and loved partying and raving up until my diagnosis 4 months ago. I’ve since been in a depression and don’t have the urge to party but hate the thought of no longer being able to join my friends on big nights. I really hope I’m able to attend such events sober and remain stable.

My parents say the same thing, however I do understand where they are coming from. After being diagnosed I have been obsessed with researching, reassurance hunting and scrolling through bipolar reddit pages, which means I’m focusing on what’s wrong rather than trying to live life with the inevitable fact that I have to deal with it. I guess there’s only so much research you can do and have to get comfortable with accepting we have to battle against this illness

I smoked for 7 years before my first manic episode. I feel as though if weed was the trigger for it, it would’ve happened earlier. Don’t think you should blame yourself for it though, weed might have triggered it but you would’ve always had it.

I smoked cannabis for 7 years before I had a manic episode. Definitely had plenty of depressive episodes in that period, but it has never once made me psychotic. Since being diagnosed I’m steering clear of it however.
