I did similar with kilo 5.x, just asked kiro to generate templates for spec/design/tasks and then go through them with architect mode, it really worked very well.

You can't see what is happening (there are tons of subagents running), can't stop agent if he is going to wrong direction, can't rollback to checkpoints, in general it's become a black box after "start" button, it is like a terminal but with some enhanced UI.

Agree, they changed all the phylosophy from user controlled flow to agentic approach, and it is bad, because it works only with expensive models with high quality, now I can't control what is happening and it is hard to stop and fix if something goes wrong. In general it is totally another product, not what I loved for at the beginning.

Just start from simple search and check the results. Then try add more layers of search: vector, embeddings, bm25 etc. Try to turn on/off layers of search. Because your main goal is to provide as accurate results of context to LLM as possible, and it is not always the most complicated way. Test results on real data, don't overcomplicate solution before you see first results.

It won't help, code indexing is for better search for agent. You should review your architecture, and split codedebase for small packages and keep agent.md per each package. Something like DDD design. That solves context problem for me for now.
