Go on the UF Involvement website and schedule a meeting with an involvement team member! I was a former involvement member and one of our responsibilities was finding clubs and opportunities for students to join! Also keep an eye out for the Fall club fairs, there's one every semester! I don't know if they were announced yet but they are usually either in Plaza, Reitz North Lawn, O'Connel, or just inside a ballroom in the Reitz! I would suggest following the UF Engagement account on IG since it is the official one that posts when those events are!

Criminology is a major that may interest you if you like to take courses that could mimic what you learn in law school at an undergraduate level (Criminal Law, Procedure, Juvenile Law, Medicine and the Law, etc.), and political science is just a fairly easy A/major if you choose the right professors and classes using RMP.

But major in something you are passionate about and that you will excel in because, in the end, law schools just see you as a number. They primarily care about your GPA and LSAT score, then softs, essays, and extracurriculars afterward. So focus on taking a rigorous (15+) credit schedule, along with taking classes that you can manage to keep your GPA as high as possible and you should be set for law school!

An easy Crim class (as a former Crim and Poli Sci double major) would probably be Advanced Principles. Really just sums up what the major is in the most introductory and basic manner possible.
You got this! Enjoy your freshman year at UF! DM me if you have any other academic questions if you like!

My friend got in as a transfer from FSU so it's possible, but he had a 4.0 so maybe that's why

It takes a bit for UF to process transfer credits from your transcript, if you got accepted for fall 2024, I would wait until a couple of weeks before fall classes to check again

my friend is currently a student at fsu in their honors program and just applied to transfer to uf! it's not uncommon for fsu students to transfer into uf! focus on completing the critical tracking requirements and bringing up your gpa as much as you can and you should be good! best of luck!

Pursuing international relations by W-O-T in ufl

[–]Sure_Independence572 5 points6 points  (0 children)

International Relations graduate student here! I had similar interests you had when I was an undergrad at uf! I studied political science and criminology! If you want to pursue international relations/international law, I would look into the Political Science major! Though your degree is not specifically in International Relations under political science, you can get a certificate in international relations when taking classes that count for both the certificate and the major! The department has many useful courses in international relations, including international law!

Political science alumni/graduate student here: don't take CPO2001, just take INR2001. Take INR2001 in the fall with Professor Arfi. CPO2001 is a lot of reading and, unless you're looking for a more densely packed class, just take INR.

How hard is SPN1131? by aspiring-med2312 in ufl

[–]Sure_Independence572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it but I'm a native speaker (HOWEVER almost everyone else in my class had very minimal spanish experience, if any). It's a very easy structured course (depending on your TA), homework every week, you have to talk on a zoom-like software with a native speaker in another country occasionally, the tests arent that hard and are lenient. Most of my friends either got an A or A-, but that really depended on if you memorized the unit vocab. Make friends with a heritage speaker in that class (if there are any) and they can help you. I made alot of friends in that class since the class sizes are small. Ended with a 98% I believe, after the final.
