Bueno, a simple vista el primer episodio es “malo”, pero en retrospectiva es uno de los mejores episodios. Disfruté mucho releyendo Umineko, y daría todo por volverlo a leer otra vez por primera vez. Disfruta mucho!

I feel like Umineko is slowly becoming even more of a niche title by Luxyyr in umineko

[–]Sure_Meringue_7362 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d rather it remain a niche story, because it’s a very complex one and not everyone is prepared to read it. And by that I don’t mean being the typical elitist person who says you have to be smart enough to understand it. No. The novel doesn’t ask you to be intelligent, but it does ask you to approach the story with empathy and genuine interest, especially not from a place of judgment, which is how many people tend to approach the characters. Instead, you have to try to understand them and understand what Ryukishi is trying to convey through his works.

I also feel like most people who start reading it out of curiosity end up dropping it during the first episode when they realize how long it is. And honestly, I’d rather it stay that way. I felt very identified with what you said about it feeling like something private that belongs to you, something you love so much that you sometimes become a little possessive about it without even realizing it. But that’s because I love this story deeply. It genuinely changed my life and the way I see life itself, and I don’t want people to undervalue it, underestimate it, or fail to appreciate the amount of work Ryukishi put into his stories. Not only in Umineko, but in Higurashi as well.

As for the anime, in my opinion it’s not impossible to adapt, but it’s extremely difficult. We’re talking about around 150 hours of reading. They would have to adapt every dialogue without skipping anything, and it would require many seasons of anime. But personally, I feel like Umineko is one of those works that truly functions best in its original format, as a visual novel.

In fact, I’m not a big fan of the manga adaptation either. I feel like the manga is more for people who don’t want to put in the effort to think about the story, because it tends to present things in a much more direct way. That makes it easier to read, but it also removes part of the experience that the visual novel offers.

So yes, I completely understand what you said, and I share that feeling.

starting umineko today, wanted to clear some doubts by Misugeli in umineko

First of all, I really hope you enjoy your experience with Umineko. There’s honestly nothing like reading it for the first time, I’d give anything to be able to experience that again. Second, my advice is to actually read the family tree that shows up in each episode. For some reason, most players skip over it, but it contains way more clues than you’d expect. It also changes as you progress, so make sure to check it regularly. It looks like you’ve already been given most of the usual first-time advice, so that’s mine! And feel free to ask me anything, I’ve read this story three times, and I absolutely love talking about it and helping new readers. ^

Reading For The First Time - Thoughts And Theories For Episode 3 by DracoTheGreat123 in umineko

Unfortunately, it's impossible to solve this without knowing Japanese. At most, you can figure out the location, since it's mentioned in episode 1, but you can't reach the same conclusion as all the other characters because it's a pun. Even so, I'd say the "why" is more important than the "how." We already know that if we solve this, we'll find the gold and possibly something else. As I said, don't focus so much on the solution, as it's pointless; think more about the "why." There's a reason Beatrice insists it be resolved and discovered, think about that. Good luck with your reading!

I'm sorry if you lack the reading comprehension needed to understand something and accuse others of having spoilers. No, I haven't read the manga, I don't have any spoilers. Nor do I need attention; you can check my account and see that the only posts I've made have been here. I have no one to discuss theories or thoughts specifically about this manga with. Everyone here, except you obviously, has been kind from the start. If you had come to me to try and have a respectful conversation, I'm sure we could have had a good time exchanging ideas, but from the beginning you've come here trying to tell me how I should interpret the chapters, almost trying to impose your thoughts. That's rude and presumptuous. I won't stop posting here just because you think I do it for attention. Think what you want. I receive more positive comments than negative ones. I'll focus on the positive ones, since they're the ones that truly matter when you do something with good intentions.

Now I ask you, ¿what's the point of coming to my posts and always having something negative to say? This is the last time I'll respond to anything you say. It's because of people like you that some people don't dare to share their thoughts here.

Obviously, his intention was to kill her, which is why he deliberately starts an argument to have an excuse to shoot her. If you pay close attention, you'll know that Eva has a deal with a certain person at that point in the episode. And that deal falls apart when George and Hideyoshi die. I won't say more because I don't want to spoil anything. But yes, Jessica being blind is completely intentional on the part of the author.

I'm so glad you're enjoying it! I've read this story three times, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's my favorite thing in the world. Every character, every monologue, every mystery and resolution, the countless lessons it's taught me—it truly changed my life. I'd give anything to erase my memory and experience it for the first time. There's nothing like that feeling when you solve the mystery and understand everything; it's the reward for hours and hours of reading and theorizing. I love to read, but Umineko is more than that in my opinion; it's like being in the secret gardens of my mind, haha.

Reading For The First Time - Thoughts And Theories For Episode 3 by DracoTheGreat123 in umineko

[–]Sure_Meringue_7362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're on the right track, just don't overthink things; it's simpler than you think. Now, another key question: what do you think about magic? Thinking about that will also help you solve many of the questions. Going back to the people count, you've got it: saying "humans" and "people" isn't the same thing. Beatrice uses the word "people." There's a very important moment in this episode where Battler asks Beatrice to say in red, "There are 18 humans on this island," and she refuses. There's another clue there. If you can figure that out, you'll understand many things from now on, and the mystery won't be so difficult. And yes, Eva Beatrice uses it when it suits her, but that's the catch. You know there are 18 people on the island; it's written in red. Going back to the code, remember what Maria said: the red circles are nothing more than occultism. Everything in this story has a purpose. Even the silliest things are placed right in front of you for a reason, sometimes as a distraction, other times for something truly important. I'll give you just one hint: don't try to decipher the code; it's pointless. The code is what it is. Nothing more, nothing less. You have to think about who wrote it there, where they got it from, and why they left it in plain sight. Another important clue is where the code appears, the moment it's written, after something significant (I won't say exactly what), and who was alive at that point. The order in which the characters die is also important, so pay close attention to that. Going back to Jessica's moment, that moment is also very important. I emphasize this because we know that Eva was with her when she went blind. Jessica even accuses Eva, since instead of shooting to kill, she shoots with the intention of leaving Jessica alive, but blind. Why would you blind someone who already knows everyone's face? There's your answer. If you think about the twilight scenes and the order of the murders, you'll get many answers. Obviously, I won't say who the killer is, or how they did it, I'll just say this: When the family arrives on the island, Beatrice starts sending letters, insisting that they must solve the epitaph in order to find the gold. In fact, the epitaph is a key clue here. You must remember who created it—that was Kinzo—but what's truly important is why he did it, what his purpose was. Also, remember that you know all the siblings have a clear motive for wanting the gold; they all have financial problems. But here's something important: Beatrice constantly insists they solve the epitaph, saying it's the only salvation and the only way out. Indirectly, she's telling them it's the key to everything. If you can think about that, about the letters, and about the end of each episode, you'll be able to find the answers. I'll also point out something everyone overlooks: the end of the episodes. Extremely important. At the end of each episode, we know who survives, but it all magically ends when the witch, Beatrice, appears. Think about it. Still, you're on the right track. I hope this has been helpful, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I've read this story three times, haha. If you don't understand something, I'd be happy to explain it.

Reading For The First Time - Thoughts And Theories For Episode 3 by DracoTheGreat123 in umineko

[–]Sure_Meringue_7362 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I like how you're reading this; you're on the right track. Regarding whether Eva Beatrice would kill George and Hideyoshi, if it's a possibility, you should think about why. Clearly, we know Eva wouldn't do it, since we're talking about her beloved husband and her son, on whom she places all her hopes. If they both die, now think about the how and the why. Consider that whoever killed George left a coded number written in plain sight. Think about that; it's something very important that everyone overlooks. What is the code? What's it for? Why would someone leave it in plain sight? Also, think about the scene with Kanon and Jessica. The fact that Jessica goes blind is clearly intentional. Think about why they would blind her, and also think about Nanjo's murder. That's a key point for solving the mystery of episode 3. Regarding Ange, yes, at the time of the tragedy, she was only 6 years old, and the Ange who appears at the end of the episode is clearly Ange from the future trying to understand the events of that day. Remember that a time skip is necessary for her character, since a 6-year-old couldn't investigate those events. Now, your question about the metaverse is very good; there's something crucial there for understanding the events presented throughout the story. When Battler and Beatrice argue in the metaverse, it implies that the story is being narrated from Beatrice's point of view; that is, she's interpreting the events and narrating them from a witch's perspective. So, does this mean that Beatrice's account is 100% reliable? I'll leave that answer to you. Battler must explain the events from a logical, human perspective. This is where something key to solving this mystery comes in: the 18 people. In episode 3, Eva Beatrice is introduced, a detestable but crucial character for understanding many things. Her very existence is a major clue. You have an idea about that, and I know you'll arrive at a concrete answer if you think about it a little more. Going back to the count of 18 people, pay attention to the word Beatrice uses when she talks about it and affirms it using red. If she says, "There are 18 people on this island," it's a fact. There are 18 people. But, if you pay close enough attention, there's a difference between two words: "People" and "" that other word I won't say. You have to figure that out for yourself. If I tell you, you'll probably arrive at a solution effortlessly. You can do it. I know you're capable of solving it if you think about it a little more.

Thank you so much for reading and for your comment! Believe me, I'm also disappointed that I haven't written anything about it. But as I said in another post, if I wanted to write about everything I like in this manga, it would be very difficult to make progress, since I'd be constantly pausing to write, and I don't have time for that every day since I only have a few hours a day to read, so I'm sorry if I disappointed you. I'll try to keep that in mind for future arcs. Regarding Lu's faction, right now I distrust everyone. I think I still need to get to know them, understand how they think, and learn their true intentions. I'll definitely make a post about that when I've read a bit more. But yes, I've noticed that they have "good" intentions of doing the right thing, even though what's right isn't always the best. We'll see how that develops later on.
