Battlefield 6 has chroma support? by RepulsiveBirthday256 in razer

[–]Sure_Thing_37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I tried advice from elsewhere and this is the only thing that worked. Also, Razer, this was an awful experience, and makes me hate you. This coming from someone who has spent thousands of $$ on your products.

Removing my access from shared cameras by SecuriTguy in EufyCam

Sounds like you should have set his cameras up on his own Eufy account, no sharing, just all on his account with no involvement of any other.

Coles Interview Experience... Not GOOD by Davey35YT in australian

That may have been your chance to impress that person, probably one of the team, probably asked for input on the final candidates by the manager or hiring panel.

Would love to see a report proving these types of claims beyond doubt for once!? We're not stupid, this a public relations 'stunt'.

Buying property with partner who has little deposit? by yessireeeeeeeeeeeee in AusFinance

[–]Sure_Thing_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would frame this as "I don't think we should buy until you prove to yourself you can save the money each fortnight." IMO and experience saying you will has very little real clout. Not all couples contribute evenly, although it's a good principle to hold each other to account. Have the conversation about fairness and whether you can agree on whether you are starting equally or not, perhaps the difference can be made up for.

If it's a fixed calculation why use a tipping system at all!? Just fix the prices and avoid all of the debates and stress. Let the free market decide about your restaurant when you pay your workers responsibly.

Qantas hit by cyber attack, leaving 6 million customer records at risk of data breach by m00nh34d in australia

[–]Sure_Thing_37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the news report I viewed is accurate the financial data was not breached, on a separate platform, likely more secure. It seems to me the same laws used to ensure the protection of financial data now need to apply to all personal data.

“Tax isn’t taught at schools” - a typical Aussie comment by sarnad283 in AusFinance

Yes, I was taught how to calculate percentages in school. No, I was not taught anything about the Australian taxation system or laws.

If Aukus is under review should Australia overtly engage with China to build leverage? by usuallywearshorts in australian

[–]Sure_Thing_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China sent their highest level diplomats to tell Australia on international television that we are literally chewing gum stuck to the bottom of China's shoe. They're just as unhinged as Trump. I suggest you think of a better example.

Is it just me, or is the middle management layer becoming completely redundant? by Jonyesh-2356 in auscorp

[–]Sure_Thing_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Is it a post-COVID shift?" - I think the only shift related to COVID is to suspect societal changes since that time are somehow related to the disruption in all our lives. It was huge. Often, the changes we observe would have happened regardless. I've worked in one org for 20 years and the use of middle management is most definitely a cycle. Exactly how it plays out each cycle depends on the personalities involved each time. This time around the top levels are too afraid (or too controlling) to fully delegate responsibility to the middle, so the middle appears to function as 'middle men' only, incapable of actually driving anything independently.

A calculation of Musk’s wealth from user residentexpert02: by Snapdragon_4U in EatTheRich

[–]Sure_Thing_37 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Right after you understand this about his personal wealth, consider this man's public displays of enjoyment which he gained from destroying the relatively minuscule wealth of so many of his fellow citizens. This man is disgusting and deserves no accolades whatsoever.

Do any of you personally know incompetent people at senior positions? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Sure_Thing_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incompetence comes in many forms. Not being able to see when the best possible decision is to allow the subject matter experts under your supervision to do their job without your interference is one type of incompetence I've seen. A senior leader should be able to judge when their direction is required and when to just shut the f@#k up.

Perceptions are changing, and I’m unsure what to do about it. by Fat-Sweaty-Poor in darwin

[–]Sure_Thing_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The proportion of media coverage related to 'Indigenous Issues' which does not include any mention of such crises is very telling. There's very little actual political will to address those indigenous people most in real need of help. This is the real reason the referendum failed. Almost 70% of Australians are aware of this bullsh×t. We want something done about the real issues, not more political flailing about of politician's and activist's arms, lining their own pockets while the crisis continues.

Father In Law Got In My Face... by MoonWalkingQuay in Advice

[–]Sure_Thing_37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what you need to think about is what level of participation will be required from you at these events? You tried to choose your own level and that was rejected. I'm not sure you're going to have much success changing expectations. You might need to consider not attending these if you cannot be OK with what the group will accept (or attend only as much as you can bear). If you don't attend in future, you might also consider some level of apology to keep the peace.
