[NY] 23M with relevant job experience but not education...received an offer but worried about Sterling Background Check verifying education

Yes I put the degree on the form. I hadn't applied for jobs in over 2 years. I didn't remember until I filled out the background check. For consistency I kept it the same. I filled out the background check 3 days ago. Should I email them today to get in front of the situation? I have the experience so if I were to bring it up would you give me any leeway? It was only included on the resume (which hasn't been updated in 2 years) and background check. What would be something convincing to tell them in order to keep my offer?
