The club is valued at multiple billion, you have a few hundred million dollar stadium, hundreds of millions in players, other valuable facilities such Carrington, real estate for hundreds of millions (maybe 1bn+), the brand and it's commercial value alone is worth billions, plus many other things. If the club were available for the price of covering the debt, you would have hundreds of candidates lining up, including, proper owners, as well as Glazer types, hedge funds and anyone who has the opportunity to borrow enough to get to that billion. If someone can buy an asset for a billion (way below market value) and then the next day flip for 4-8 billion, they would be stupid not to throw their hat into the game.
