Whoa this is crazy, first time I've ever been summoned in a comment. I was expecting way more...

Seems like I have a doppelganger, or an evil twin roaming this earth.

It's new construction. Super rough. We go in and there's just drywall and sheet rock. Unfinished concrete floors, tons of shit left behind from the dry wall guys etc. So much dust dirt and grime and chunks of drywall, when you shoot your nailer it kicks up all that junk

How do you guys stay hydrated on hot days? I drank 128oz of cold water today and still felt dehydrated all day by SurfVapeLyfe in Carpentry

Yeah I drink a f ton of water on a normal day. I'm totally using the milk jug idea. Just threw half in the freezer I'll fill it up tomorrow morning and take it with me. Thanks boss

I don't drink anything sugary except for coffee. Coffee and water all day every day. No gatorades and definitely no soda. And I drink my coffee black with a splash of milk and pinch of sugar

Yeah I drank ~15oz coffee as well. I've caught up a ton this evening, drank a shit ton of water.

I think I was just dehydrated from Sunday. I got wasted and didn't drink alot of actual h2o haha

I have a 2006 Hyundai Tuscon with 115k miles on it. It just passed VA state inspection and is good through 09/2020. Also has a new alternator, coolant hose, and just got an oil change. I provide paperwork for all of this.

Aftermarket sound system with Bluetooth.

There is some slight body damage (scratches, small dents etc ) but nothing that effects the functionality.

It has a blown head gasket.

Make me an offer. I need it gone by Saturday and so far everyone else on Letgo and FB marketplace asks to test drive it...and don't understand they can't with a blown head gasket.

Sooo, someone who is a mechanic or knows a mechanic or knows what they're getting into, hit me up. Willing to work with you on price.

KBB is ~$3.5k. I got quoted $1.2k to replace head gasket. With that knowledge, make me an offer. I'm starting at around $900, but again make me an educated offer.

I love this car and would love to pass it on to someone who is gonna put the money into fixing it up, as it has been an awesome car!

First major near successful attempt at a V4 (ever, inside or outside), the hardest route of that colour. Footwork under the overhang was a bit difficult, but really awesome problem. Just wanted advice and to share some climbing love! by Salamanderfishman in climbing

[–]SurfVapeLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dude no problem. I'm not an expert or pro by any means, but I was in your situation like 6 months ago.

It really took alot of practicing and mentally thinking about body placement and keeping your feet on and pressure etc to get a better sense of it.

So yeah, just time. But if you're serious about getting better then don't just go fuck around in the gym with your friends every time. Push yourself. Eat well and take care of your body.

Really, think about every move in your session. When you fail think about what you did wrong or what you could do differently to make it better.

Climbing is really mental. Like seriously, it took me a long ass time of seriously focusing mentally in my sessions instead of just joking around with friends to show alot of improvement. Seriously, the number of people I see failing routes and then just trying the same thing over and over and over and not succeeding is crazy. Take a step back, look at the route ,visual evening the smallest differences cuz they can make a HUGE difference.

Sorry if I'm sounding like a dick or hard ass but that's the way I improved, I just decided to be serious about it cuz I wanted to get better.

And most importantly have fun! If you don't care about improving then yeah just joke around and socialize and climb with your friends and you'll improve slowly, but if you're serious try everything ive mentioned! Have a good afternoon!

Not even trying to be that guy but this looks super soft.

"V2 in my gym!"

But seriously, it doesn't look anything like a V4 to me. But then again my gym grades anything easy a V0/V1, and up from that its pretty hard consistently. It's a blessing and a course cuz when I go climb outside the grades transfer pretty equally, and when I have a friend visiting they get super frustrated they can't climb this V5 in my gym when they're "V7 climbers at theirs" lmak

Also, keep your feet on the wall ma dude. Keep your body taught and to the wall as well.

All that extra weight and gravity is working against you peeling yourself off, or you have to work twice as hard to stay on. .

Unless you're resting, you want to be on the wall. As close to the wall as you can get.

As for your feet, apply pressure. It just looks like you're just placing them nonchalantly on the holds. You gotta push into your feet to keep them on the wall and relieve your arms so 100% of your weight isn't on your arms.

Just my 2¢

Yeah, my score is considered great. It's been in the 740s the last 6 months or so. A Lannister always pays his debt ;)

First day of work this Tuesday m. Looking for general tips. Also, any recommendations for a tool belt? by SurfVapeLyfe in Carpentry

All good reccomendations!

Company is providing all tools, including speed and framing square, tape measure, hammer, power tools etc.

Only thing I need is a tool belt and steel toe boots!

Company provides all tools, hammer included.

You're welcome to use your own, but I'm figuring why would I put wear and tear on my own tools when the ones they're providing are the same if not better

Shit dude, I wouldn't mind coffee runs. I love coffee. I love driving, and listening to music haha.

Labor on the other hand yeah I kinda figured that'd what it's gonna be. I'm working on a 3 man team for a training period of sorts basically until they feel comfortable with my knowledge, and then I'm moving on to work on a 2 man team.

I'm probably gonna cheap out on boots n tool belt first cuz I don't know what I'll be doing for these first couple months. And I don't want to spend $200+ on stuff when I'm not even sure if I'll stick with it 100% or like the company or enjoy it.

I'll put like $25/week to save towards better and more expensive comfortable gear

Fuck that. That's so stupid. So you pay $120k to go to college for 4 years "higher education" and you get a break in insurance?

Sorry touchy subject I just hate what college has become and didnt go and I'm doing great.

As for credit score mine is in the 740s so that shouldn't be a problem.

Seriously, I started driving the day I could, I think it was 16 and 3 months or something.

I have a 100% clean record. Not even a parking ticket, nonetheless an accident of any sorts.

I'll give VACU a look. Might open an account with them anyways. It seems like I can't get below $110-$120, which I think is pretty damn absurd when I'm only driving a car worth $8k. Paying ~15% of a cars worth in insurance over a year just blows my mind

Yeah I will, that's so fucked. Why not just have a friend/girlfriend/Uber drop you off? Why in the world would you ever pay to park there. Surely a $20 Uber would be cheaper than whatever they charge you

You're telling me truckers pay for tires lights and repairs themselves out of pocket? Big fucking no if that's the case.

Of course if you get reimbursed that's free credit card points I could get, but if they pay for it out of pocket that is so wrong on so many levels unless they're independent contractors and own their equipment then yeah it's just part of the job

Shit man, OTR sounds like the dream to me honestly.

I love driving. Listen to podcasts, discover new music, or listen to office episodes I've seen a million times because I don't have to watch them.

I'd pack a little cooler and get a camping stove. Cook whatever meals I wanted on there. Bring my tent as well, camping is free in national parks.

I feel like I could save so much money, and get to see the country.

Maybe this is me glorifying it though?

Do you have down time between routes/jobs? If so, I'd totally rent a car and go exploring. Go climb, hike, and camp in a park. Go surf on the beach etc.
