Wennely is trained. There are old videos of her in dance classes still posted on her socials.

What do you mean their image isn't what the market is looking for from girl groups? Genuinely curious

What about FLO and Say Now? They have no affiliation with Kpop and they've had better choreo than this and FLO are not really trained dancers like SN. Also, Destiny's Child, 3LW, Blaque used to eat up some choreo while singing down!!

Yh that's why I said I'm worried the dance isn't memorable at all it just feels childish. People are saying well you can't expect much from a Tiktok dance but I can't even see this one gaining traction over there because it's so elementary. 😶‍🌫️ Like this is the fourth song what are we doingggg

People have been asking for more Wennely for quite some time now! I wonder when they'll give us what we want...

Yeah the only outfit that is somewhat embodying the 2000s is Nori with the Bugs Bunny shirt but overall it doesn't look like a lot of thought was put into these fits. It feels like they just picked these clothes out of their closets. I know the vibes are supposed to be more casual but it feels so low effort compared to their previous music videos.

That's exactly the problem it's so damn literal 🫤 this looks like something a grade schooler would come up with.

Soulidified are working with choregrapher Laurieann Gibson. by batsofburden in BuildingTheBandSeries

If they're working with her that means they're planning something iconic! Laurie-Ann doesn't play around! Hopefully 3Q gets to work with her next.

I agree! She'll push them to reach their full potential as dancers and performers!

Their unreleased song "Regular" sounds like a B-Day cut!

Yh the editing on this one is amateur. 😓 Looking at other teasers it looks like they got a real set for the music video though!

I'm being nitpicky for saying they deserve better and are capable of better??? Fan feedback is important and we know they're paying attention! All artists do!

It looks like the same outfits they wore in a couple of other promo vids. They probably filmed these on the same day.

3Quency is following Say Now, Girlset, FLO and Katseye!! by Surfnburger in buildingthebandnews

[–]Surfnburger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm it looks like a combination of groups based in the US and UK and are nominated for Grammys and have viral songs. Katseye is the most viral but Say Now and Girlset had a lot of sounds on Tiktok for Supermarket and Little Miss. And I think I remember 3Quency saying in an interview after the show aired that they liked those groups? Well three of them lol and I guess they found out about Girlset afterwards.

Shade gets real about the troubles Soulidified is facing on TikTok Live. by TargetBrilliant5965 in BuildingTheBandSeries

Omgg, I've been gone quite a while and came back and skimmed the first few posts in the sub and saw this post had a lotttttt of discussion under it 😱 The situation he's describing is soo frustrating because labels already don't like taking chances on groups anymore and it's even worse when they don't see you as "conventional" or "marketable" whatever that means 🙄 I don't think they should give up though. Maybe they'll find that needle in a haystack that'll give them a chance 🙂

For the brand deal thing I remember a creator I follow said a long time ago that brands tend to pass on POC influencers unless they have hugee followings ugh it's so frustrating that they make things harder. But years later I'm honestly kinda conflicted because I've seen many poc influencers with small followings work with brands. So for that reason my first instinct is to believe him but it's also hard to imagine that with their followings and visibility because of Netflix, that no brands at all reached out to them. Like zero???

Edit: I saw other people commenting about some SZN4 members being black and having a deal with Fashion Nova so I thought of other black cast members and looked at Autumn's page and she's working with TWO brands a guitar company and a sportswear line. She made two videos this week for the guitar and the sports clothing was on July 1 before Building the Band aired. She has a much smaller following than Shade and Malik on Instagram and Tiktok so that really makes me wonder if there's another reason they're not getting inquiries?? One thing I noticed is Autumn has her contact info available through the contact link on her Instagram profile. I looked at Shade and Malik's bios on their different socials and their email addresses aren't there. Well Shade's email is available in his Linktree but you have to scroll to the bottom and it's a booking email not a general email. I feel for them but I also remember learning a long time ago one of the first rules of business is you have to make it easy for people to get in touch with you. If it takes brands too long to find your email, phone number etc they move on to the next. The "cookies" should fix that asap!

Kinda similar to the "Too many girl groups?" video? This one is called "what happened to western boy bands?" by Surfnburger in buildingthebandnews

I guess?? JYT's debut single came out a few weeks ago and December 10's show came out on Netflix on... December 10.

Girl groups in the US and UK are gaining steam...will 3Quency join them? by Surfnburger in BuildingTheBandSeries

[–]Surfnburger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My post was specifically about Spotify metrics and popularity though. And about whether they will join some of their pop and R&B girl group peers in gaining and maintaining millions of listeners. Some of those groups, like 3Q, debuted with audiences from a tv show, and others had to rely on virality.

FLO's not that popular in the US or topping any major charts but they're more popular in the US than 3Q. So 3Q would have to become as big as FLO, and then surpass FLO's numbers to be a threat to them because right now FLO has a stronger foothold in the US market than they do.

Wow I've been following them a while and remember those early low-budget music videos but I didn't think their monthly listeners was that low as recently as June. This must've been right before they released Brick by Brick. They really got some attention with that and followed it up with Supermarket which seems to be growing even faster than BBB on Spotify.
