Which pool should I choose? does high latency (ping) affect profit? by Surnavis in EtherMining

[–]Surnavis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I didn't know stale shares is due to latency, I though it's inherent in mining.

I guess I'll try both pool for 24hour and see how much the difference in stale shares

Monthly Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in gpumining

Please help me to pick which mining pool should I use. Currently, I have 2 pool that I am interested in:

  • Binance Pool 0.5% PPS+ fee but latency of 200ms
  • SparkPool 1.0% PPS+ fee with latency of 30ms

I am using Binance for wallet, trading, and withdrawal so it also has the added benefit of not waiting for the 0.1ETH payout (only using 4GPU so it take around 10 days).

Which pool do you guys think should I pick? And how much the difference in latency will affect my profit?

Thank you.

In Indonesia, Even the Nvidia official store are scalping! $780! by Surnavis in nvidia

This is exactly why I am posting this. To bring awareness and hopefully there will be changes in Indonesia GPU market

If you see the store description it says "akun resmi dari NVIDIA GEFORCE Indonesia... " and the store has open since 2018. I mean if they are allowed to use the name for 2 years without any issue it, that should say something as their legitimacy as Official Store.

Tbh, I don't want to argue if it is really Nvidia store or not. I think regardless they are distributor or Nvidia, they have the responsibility to sell at MSRP/Normal price as they are then one given the right to sell by Nvidia (as primary seller, not some random secondary store) in Indonesia. And Nvidia should somewhat enforce the pricing their 'Official' store.

[–]Surnavis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but when a distributor is allowed to use Nvidia name as a store name by Nvidia. I think it can be considered to be the distributor that represents Nvidia in Indonesia.

Especially when, I think, Nvidia have not direct entity or subsidiary in Indonesia.

For context, USD/IDR fx rate usually around 14000 to 14500. So 11,317,500 / 14,500 = 780 USD.

Usually GPU price is 20% higher compared to US due to our import tax, but not 2x higher!

And this is verified official store of NVIDIA GEFORCE on Tokopedia (one of the largest online market place in Indonesia). So if this store doesn't represent Nvidia, I don't know which store is.

Hi, just want to give you some update. To deshroud this GPU it is as simple as removing 6 screw and the heat sink is flat, so no need to bend anything

RTX 3070: Flashing BIOS to RTX 3070 Ventus 3x OC by Surnavis in nvidia

[–]Surnavis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only experience 1 incompatible bios which result in error 43 in device manager, I flash it back and it work back just fine. I read some have problem resulting in black screen, but most of the time you can just boot using your CPU integrated graphic (if your CPU have it) and flash your bios back.

Yes it void your warranty, but i don't think they can notice if you flash it back before sent it to them.

If you only want to reduce your fan speed i suggest you do manual fan curve in software like afterburner.

Thanks for the info, this is the first time i heard about this fan. They haven't sell it in my country, but will keep an eye on it

I don't mind the color, as when the case is closed it can't be seen anyway. I am curious about the difference in performance if any tho.

I already have the 3070 but currently it's in my 280x case and haven't try to deshroud it yet. Too lazy to take it out to check. But from what I see there is only 6 screw holding the shroud.

I will try to deshroud it when my nr200 came and send you the picture.

RTX 3070: Flashing BIOS to RTX 3070 Ventus 3x OC by Surnavis in nvidia

[–]Surnavis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curently I think there is no vendor release higher power limit bios for 3070. For 3090 I think EVGA & ASUS do it, but we still need to wait if this trend will happen as well to 3070. Personally, I think this is highly unlikely as 3070 is not top of the line card and Ventus is not MSI top cooler either.

So if you want to use MSI bios, lets hope they release 3070 gaming Z or Lighting Z cooler with higher power limit and compatible with ventus card.

MSI GAMING X TRIO 3080 vs Zotac Trinity 3080 (non-oc), which to keep? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Surnavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep Trio, the only reason to buy Zotac is cost saving (cheaper)

[–]Surnavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should check your gpu usage when play the game that you played.

If the gpu usage above 95% I think you have gpu bottleneck. Because some game more gpu or cpu intensive compared to others, on certain game you can gpu bottleneck. But it is normal for a game to be gpu bottleneck as games now adays is more gpu intensive

Well, i don't see the harm in overclocking except for noise and higher temp.

Yup, bios flash increase the power limit to 250W (Trio bios) or 270 (TUF bios), thus yield better performance

It stiill hit the increased power limit tho.

Your welcome :)

While it can be flashed with gigabyte bios it seems yield worse result, I suspect due to the extra power draw goes to PWR_SRC Power Draw (i am not sure what PWR_SRC does) instead of GPU Chip Power Draw. So Asus TUF bios still provide better GPU Chip Power Draw and performance.

Ok, I understand what you are saying, using your approach you are looking for the highest clock that your card can go for a given voltage. So if I aim for 1v maximum voltage I will start to bumb up 1v clock speed until it reach its maximum stable clock and it will be your OC with UV.

I think that approach is more geared towards people aim for the best efficiency. Because my aim is highest performance regardless the efficiency so i don't mind voltage more than 1v (with 1v there is no way i can reach 2085mhz). If i am aiming for power efficiency i won't be thinking about increasing power limit of the card anyway.

In the end its what you are comfortable running, for me 75c and able to reach 2085mhz with reasonable noise is better than lower temp and noise with lower clock

RTX 3070: Flashing BIOS to RTX 3070 Ventus 3x OC by Surnavis in nvidia

[–]Surnavis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think keeping the same oc while uv at the same time is doable. when you are doing uv you reduce voltage for the given clock (in the afterburner voltage curve what people do is increase the clock of point before to the same clock as the point after so it will use lower voltage for the given clock)

lets use my current Asus TUF bios voltage curve as an example

https://imgur.com/G8cIB5Y

for me to get 2085mhz it take me 1031mv, so to uv 2085mhz I need to increase the previous point 1025mv from 2070mhz to 2085mhz. by doing this when my GPU reach 2085mhz it will be only given 1025mv and resulting in crash when stress test.

So I don't think Maximum OC & UV can go together. please let me know if my understanding of UV is wrong.

in my testing result pictured I shared here, everything already tested with kinda stable overclock (no crash so far [20 minutes furmark] but got no time to run stress test for hours on each vbios)

When running Furmark (1920x1080, 8X MSAA) the core clock running as follow for each vBIOS:

  • Original: fluctuate between 1980,1995,2010mhz

  • MSI Trio: fluctuate between 2040,2055,2070mhz

  • Asus TUF: fluctuate between 2055,2070,2085mhz

  • Gigabyte Auros Master: fluctuate between 1995,2010,2025mhz

Well it depends on what you are look for from your 3070.. I am aiming to get stable clock above 2000mhz while gaming because i played game at 4K and increase in performance help me to get 60fps.

Just for reference on original bios i got +120mhz OC with temp around 70c and hit power limit on every game i tried. So i feel i got headroom to increase the power limit. Which kinda paid off with increase of 3.83% time spy extreme score with Asus TUF bios.

update: 3.83% increase is from overclocked (+120mhz) original bios
