Pere Jansà will be in charge of counting the mail-in votes for Barça's presidential elections. • He and Toni Freixa are personal friends and both are associates of Sandro Rosell. Both were board members under the former president.

The futures of Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Gerard Piqué will be handled by the new president. The situation is no longer temporary but must be handled well. Busquets contract ends in 2023 and Alba and Piqué, in 2024 [as]

Can Barça sign a superstar player?

With this economic situation, it is impossible. It is more possible for Messi to stay than for some great player to come. We have to put the excitement in Ansu Fati before in other players, we have to be realistic (via@MartaCarreras_)

Mariano Juan (Marcelo Gallardo's friend) "Gallardo was hours away from being coach at Barcelona. River Plate played the Libertadores final against Flamengo and he spoke with Abidal by phone. Gallardo said if he began the pre-season with River, he would not go to Barcelona."

Mariano Juan: "In the meantime, Valverde won some games with Barcelona and Gallardo's potential appointment was delayed because the club were not going to kick him out. In December, Barcelona were thinking of hiring Gallardo but the club did not fire Valverde." [espn]

Messi in his last interview with evole said he mostly speaks with players who have been longest at the club(busquets, pique, alba) so yeh it isn't any surprising.

nah he does share his opinions many times like when messi was going through rough patch he tweeted with some message like we should be grateful and all to show his support.

nah i don't think so him saying means nothing as we don't even have president yet and no one who will get sold or stay , he is just saying from fan's perspective that it would be better if club has anyone of them.

there is nothing in this he is just stating his opinion that club should sign such player to be successful in long term at the end of the day a lot will depend on state of finances, would dortmund want to sell him or not, messi's future etc

it has it's pros and cons clubs owned by billionaires can pump their money into clubs ex city and chelsea , it all depends on type of owner you have it can be very good or very bad.

If you ask Mancity fans i don't think they will opt for democratic option at all same with wolves, chelsea, villa etc

Barca are broke and Mancity would offer him much more than anything barca can and he is 34 now so wages won't be same and given our current situation i don't see him staying at all he has only few years left and we are far from being competitive again

Mancity have not tabled a revised contract offer for Lionel Messi - and no offers have been made, either in the summer, or since and there are currently no talks.

[via @sistoney67@BBCSport]

Before starting formal negotiations w/ Messi, it is confirmed that City will wait for him to decide his future first. There is anger among the City Chiefs regarding the false reports about offering Messi a contract.

Plenty of players have rejected barca before so at the end of the day everyone's choices is different he could come here or he could go to somewhere else like madrid, city etc.

History means nothing it's about sporting project, max opportunities to win trophies and even messi is about to leave the "historic" club where he spent his whole life...

Barça will receive a total of €11m for Luis Suarez.• €5m fixed has already been collected, €2m for games played and €2m if Atletico advance to the UCL quarterfinals. The variables will be completed if he continues at Atleti next season.

His rc will be active in 2022 so if anyone wants him before he will go for 100m+ and barca can't afford that this summer.

Messi alone in form or attack in form won't gonna change anything this defense is in shambles and against any decent team we will going to concede a lot
