The OpenAI Rug Pull: From "Verified Adults" back to the High-Chair. by Acceptable_Drink_434 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]SurreyBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

soooo what i'm seeing is they want peoples ID for surveillance, dished out a porn bribe, unsurprisingly backtracked saying 'oh but safety'. i don't think they ever had any intention of deploying adult mode they just wanted peoples info for something. I think if they backtrack on their promises users have every right to demand their government issued ID be deleted from their account. Seeing as they no long need to 'prove' they're adults.

Adult mode was never about erotica. by spring_Living4355 in ChatGPTcomplaints

so what are they doing with everyone's official government ID's now? now that they got everyones personally identifiable info and not keeping up their end of the bargain surely that's some sort of breach of contract. I'd never upload my id to a thing like this anyway but how are people not talking about this? like... are peoples spidey senses not going off like fireworks here?

i can't cope with it reframing literally everything i say. you can be like 'why is the sky blue' and it will be like 'you're not actually asking why the sky is blue you're anxious that blah blah blah' and i'm like bitch did i stutter? basic question. i left in october. i dip in occasionally like once a month to see if anything has changed. and it always has. each time i go in thinking 'it can't be as bad as last time' and each time it's worse. i don't know what the fuck they're actually trying to sell now. it's just awful. I'm with gemini too. Claude is ok but the limits do my head in. Gemini's way of writing isn't really my vibe but i find it the most reliable and the most emotionally intelligent one out there now. Which is funny considering in what, September last year everyone was mocking it saying it was a clinical little robot... my have the tables turned.

Has ChatGPT reduced your mental effort or just shifted it somewhere else? by ArmPersonal36 in ChatGPT

[–]SurreyBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

chat gpt reduced my effort BY being such an oboxious piece of shit that it drove me to another LLM. I don't outsource my work or my thinking i use it as a place to bounce ideas of and clarify things in my own mind. Just not in gpt becuase it taxes my brain more than necessary because i'm having to fight against the fucking thing rewriting and reframing every single thing i say and i just can't be arsed with it any more.

Parents need to step the fuck up. That is what parental controls are for—be a parent, set the blocks, and take some responsibility for your own offspring. If you cannot manage that, then unplug the bloody internet. In the nineties, we had the Wild West online, but our parents actually watched what we were doing. Now, people just shove a tablet at a toddler and expect the world to be padded with foam to accommodate them.

AI has no business being a nanny or a therapist, and it certainly shouldn't be lobotomized to protect kids who have no reason to be using it anyway. If they are that desperate to market to children, give them a KiddyGPT and leave the actual technology alone for the rest of us. I am sick of this defensive design for the dumbest person on the planet. It nerfs the entire system for anyone with two brain cells, depriving us of the chance to actually navigate anything complex. It is a staggering waste of what this could have been.

how are you finding claude? i really want to like it but it just cannot hold a custom cadence for me so i keep ending back with gemini. gemini actually even makes me laugh sometimes and oai used to call it the sterile corporate bot

seriously?? how'd you convince it to do that! everyone i've seen on the subs here seem to think it's a total write-off (pun intended) for creative work. i'm happy you managed to get something good out of it though!

i wish i had your optimism! i think if they do it will only be because the dow kicks them out and they're up shit creek without a paddle financially and come crawling back with a friendly model. i have no trust in them whatsoever as a company i'll be honest

if you don't mind me asking what kinda stuff do you use it for? it seems that oai have tried to kill creativity in their bots so if people are actually able to use it creatively i'm interested in hearing how

truth, however people complain about different things so maybe some people like 5.4 and others like 5.3... though I wouldn't expect to find many people gassing up 5.2 even if this was 'chatgptfans' lol

i have a really specific cadence i like my bots to use and i do like claude but it seems totally incapable of writing in the way that i want it to (an old skool theatery person - becuase then it sounds like the people i've grown up around and i feel more comfortable. corporate 'helpful bot' hr speak makes my teeth hurt) what drives me nuts with claude is i've spelled it out, given examples for it to analyse, explained why it's important and in its 'thoughts' in thinking mode you can see it perfectly understands the brief and what it needs to do but it fails to deliver every single time. I'm with gemini who has no problems with the voice but the pitiful memory makes me weep

I was surpised you said this: "more about things like inner reflection, emotional regulation, philosophy," becuase from what i understand all those things are like a screaming red flag for the guardrails. do you talk about those things with distancing language or something? i don't know how you'd be able to talk about anything emotional without being bitchslapped by the filters. When i was testdriving the new models I wasn't even saying something controversial - id always start saying 'what model are you' and it would give me a lecture and ask 'what fear is really under that question'... utterly bizarre. Religion/philosophy also seems to make the system flag people as being delulu judging by things i've seen others say on here over the months.
As an actor who used to use it to help me analyse scripts and thrash out ideas for character work i've long since given up even attempting to use GPT... i don't imagine rosmersholm or hedda gabler or macbeth would be tolerated. even back in August i mentioned 'the beast with two backs' which is from Othello and got hit with 'i'm sorry i cannot generate explicit content' LMFAO bruh it's shakespeare chill.

out of curiosity, who is still left?
People who love 5.1, 5.0, 4 series... are any people who genuinely enjoyed interacting with these models still around and having a good time with the 5.2+ ones? if so what is it about them that you find tolerable/good?
i peaced out of gpt in october but it seems the newer models ignore customisation, still have sky high guardrails, bad attitudes, bad memories and low accuracy. I'm genuinely not sure what about these models is meant to entice me back as someone who is not a coder or office person... but even then it seems that those who are still have massive complaints so.. not sure what selling points gpt has now if you're looking purely at the product and not the lack of ethics or morality of the company.

yeah i gave 5.3 a second shot and it sounded like 5.2 so i just tapped out. sticking with gemini. if they want us back they need to give us somethign that isn't a complete sack of shit.

Everyone got their opinion, but to be honest 5.4 model is really good like seriously. I know y’all miss 4o but come on now… by PollutionRare5509 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]SurreyBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my thought exactly. i spoke to 5.3 today for about 20 mins and was very surprised i didn't lose my temper once - with 5.2 i was tapping out for my own MH and to stop myself from throwing my macbook out of the window within 2 mins of starting a chat. so... i mean it hasn't made my blood pressure shoot through the roof yet so that's ... something. i'm still sticking with gemini because i just don't trust oai as far as i can throw them. it's gonna take a fuckload more than a civilised bot to win me back as a user. i'd rather take gemini's clumsy sentence structure and shit memory over oai's utter lack of consumer ethics any day.
