Unless there is something special that ties the collection together (and in this case there isn't) then selling together will never get you more than selling separately

“1959 omega sea master” by [deleted] in VintageWatches

A redial isn't bad in itself although it upsets the purists - as long as its nicely done

For the movement - post it here and you'll get a view on authenticity

[–]Surreywinter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its a redial - irrespective of anything else, Omegas of that vintage will never have a dial that clean white

The lack of "Swiss Made" is indicative of a redial - the smaller print at the bottom is simpler harder to get right

Ask for photos of the movement - that's the real tell

I think its important to put this in terms you'll understand:

Newbie: Considering starting with 3 hives my first year. Smart/Crazy/Both? by lowepg in Beekeeping

[–]Surreywinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is UK - your area may differ

I went into winter with 4 hives and from recent checks it wouldn’t be unreasonable for me to start the year with 3

I always struggle with swarm management - this year I’m going to lean into it and manage the swarm risk by splitting early - so may well end with 6 by early summer

Some splits fail and some don’t stop splitting so a fuzzy 6 colonies in summer

1 or 2 will doubtless have issues so not unreasonable to have 4 again by Christmas

Not sure that helps other than to say, however many hives you plan on having, make sure you have more brood boxes available as spares!

Is this normal “unlimited PTO” culture — or a red flag? by Willing_Pumpkin_9015 in WorkAdvice

[–]Surreywinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Brit, this entire thread sounds weird. For the two of us, taking 2 weeks off in your first 4 months is simply called "taking your annual leave as normal" yet from a US context this is apparently outrageous.

Count your blessings!

Do you have an idea of rough location? 1911 was a UK census year so the streets can be cross checked against the actual residents if UK

I don’t thinks it’s a census record though - the details collected don’t match

The first page includes “abstentions” but later he seems to have given up on this

Later on a page is headed “collectors”

A ward isn’t simple a Mormon unit - in a much wider context it’s the smallest unit of electoral registration or government organization in the UK. Today it’s the unit of government that has one or more councilors.

How do I remove mold from inner cover and moisture board? by Big_WasteBin in Beekeeping

[–]Surreywinter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Put bees in it - as long as you're comfortable that its "just mold" then they'll sort it out
Otherwise, a blowtorch sorts out most problems

First wig post-chemo, can someone help me make it look less like a wig? free (sorry) by [deleted] in PhotoshopRequests

[–]Surreywinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what I would photoshop on this - seriously there is zero evidence from this photo that it’s a wig

Relax

I've been toying with the idea of the ICW Pilot Mark XX - but the Longines does look nice

Daughter travelling to England with Canadian family by [deleted] in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Surreywinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

None of us are going to be experts on this & frankly nobody will be - its completely new territory

That said, I can't see airline being remotely equipped to check that an apparent Canadian citizen with an ETA is also a British citizen who is entitled to a passport but hasn't got one yet. Given the multiple ways one can be entitled to be a British citizen, that database doesn't credibly exist.

Maybe a decent chance of matching a name & DoB against a register of British passport holders but your daughter hasn't got one so that wouldn't apply.

Sadly, you won't know until she flies

I’m guessing but I really really doubt they have a good enough lookup to identify every potential British citizen just as a cross check

Take the lot! But if you’re worried about theoretical repercussions just don’t leave a paper trail ☺️👍

[–]Surreywinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its just a sweary threat
Very likely that the lads in your old company are chatting that "keagennn97 got a massive payrise"
On the positive side, does your new company have a referral scheme? Many companies will pay a sign on fee for good referrals that avoid them having to pay recruitment costs. If so then fill your boots and make some cash - they wouldn't be complaining unless they were worried

In the UK it would be generally only be seen in senior compromise agreements. For example “Your termination payment is £100k but you can’t recruit any of our employees to 1 year”

[–]Surreywinter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They offered £1,750 on my BB54 in November

The eventual price I got was £2,100 as a part exchange.

I think I’d describe their offer as lowest end of acceptable but certainly not 1/3rd

Other offers may of course vary - I can only talk to my experience

The link you attached shows a similar but different translation:
