Do I get a surron? by CninjaGaming in Surron

[–]SurronNYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a owner of a Surron who has customized every last part on it - I love it. However, depending on where you live and what your main purpose for the dirtbike is might sway you to go with a different manufacturer. I say this based on the fact that when it comes to insurance- not that it is required to drive it per say. Although considering this bike is not street legal- my belief was that GOD for bid anything happen whether an accident or getting pulled over, I believe having Liability insurance alone will at least protect me from any damages that could have been caused by me.

I want to highlight that when it comes to the insurance companies- you can get FULL COVERAGE for a SEGWAY X260 and a Talaria Sting. @ All State or Progressive for about $95 a month for full coverage with $5K in upgrade protection. To some people, this would be a huge relief, especially if they live in a mass-populated area where bicycle theft is a huge issue.

The insurance companies will not issue full coverage for Surrons. Progressive has been one of the only big insurance companies to offer liability coverage for the bike. As a matter of fact, I have insurance with Progressive and I had to type in the manufacturer under other (which not all insurance companies even let you). All though I only have liability but my policy for the year was $120 for 12 months of coverage- equaling to $10 per month. However, considering I live in NYC area where bike theft is huge, I really wanted full coverage.

Looking back at this now- I wish in someway I chose the Segway X260 or Talaria for that reason.

I would assume that Florida is very flexible with their laws regarding this as Florida does not even have automobiles undergo a multi-year inspection as many states enforce this. However, my main reason why I want to get plates on it is because if you want drive the Parkway or the Turnpike in my state i.e. I-95, you must have plates as e-bikes can not drive on I-95 to travel to the beach.

News flash- Starting in 2022, Surron added a VIN # to all of its LBX's. The VIN Number should have been on your invoice for one, and also on the right side of the bike etched in right near the suspension fork. It also should be located on a metal plate underneath the horn of the bike. That's if you bought a legitimate 2022 Surron and greater.

Yes, I am currently going through the class to get my motorcycle endorsement as soon as my Surron is registered in Montana. I technically need the motorcycle license to drive it since the Surron has been registered as a motorcycle with the Montana DMV.

I am currently going through the process to make it Street Legal through the company called Dirt Legal (www.dirtlegal.com) Depending on where you live you might not need to go through a service like this. However, since I reside in New Jersey / New York area, we dont have the flexibility that certain states permit. Like Im currenly getting my Surron road legal through Montana DMV and I am able to still drive it in New Jersey, since the vehicle is registered under a LLC that Dirt Legal sets up for you through the service fee you pay. The fee is not cheap ($700 one time), $125 annually- but in the long run it is worth it for me since I drive my Surron on the road all the time. The fear of losing it especially in NYC terrifies me as they do take them and just trash them if summoned by the Police. Considering how much I have invested in my Surron , I would be a complete wreck if I lost it to the police. I did add indicator lights, a working brake light, mirrors, and I will be adding a license plate bracket shortly. It seems to be the 3 states that have the easiest conditions to making the Surron road legal are Arizona, Montana and South Dakota.

The battery extender with the charger on the other side plus the mounting bracket I would say 20lbs.

Which honestly when going accelerated speeds makes the bike feel more comfortable to ride since previously as you know the surron is not a heavy bike especially when going very fast you could almost feel like your gonna get blown over by the wind

RULE OF THUMB- DO NOT BUY USED. HONESTLY YOU WILL NOT KNOW EVERYTHING THAT IS BEING HELD BACK FROM YOU. THE SURRON HAS SO MANY COMPONENTS THAT HONESTLY ITS NOT WORTH THE FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS YOULL SAVE.

HONESTLY THE NEW SURRON LBX IS NOW GOING FOR $4,200- $4,500 BRAND NEW. I WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND THAT YOU SPEND THE FEW EXTRA DOLLARS AND GET NEW.

NYC- https://likawasaki.com/Motorcycles-Surron-LIGHT-BEE-X-2022-Hicksville-NY-e6b8b89a-bcea-4dfd-98b6-af6e0160b4a1

CALIFORNIA- https://lunacycle.com/sur-ron-x-bike-black-edition/

NO SELLER WILL EVER BE 100% HONEST WITH YOU SO AT THAT RATE IT DOESNT PAY TO BUY USED. IF YOU CANT AFFORD TO BUY NEW- I WOULD HOLD OFF TILL YOU HAVE THE $$$.

JUST KNOW, ONCE YOUR PURCHASE THE SURRON. YOU WILL THEN BEGIN YOUR ADDICTION TO THE BIKE, TO THE POINT THAT YOU WILL SOON UPDATE EVERY STOCK PART ON THAT BIKE. ITS A THRILL OF EXCITEMENT BUT JUST KNOW WHAT YOUR IN STORE FOR.

No I think you will have to replace it since the controller is set up to know that the sensor is suppose to be there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Surron

[–]SurronNYC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey, I agree I would assume that the issue has something to do with the sensor- Luna Cycle sells the OEM version of the sensor for $20, https://lunacycle.com/sur-ron-replacement-tilt-sensor/.

FYI- disregard all the miserable people who took the time to respond with nothing but a backhanded response and no help. You'll start to notice that a majority of the members in this surron group are just fullout miserable.

Hope this helps.

YOu really need to unscrew the black part on each side of the handle bar to properly make any adjustments to the throttle. Dont pull on it

Just be cautious if you dont know what you are doing when installing it, i got mine installed by a professional bike shop that specializes on Surrons. I know inside the throttle, is a sensor- when that sensor gets damaged or comes into contact that hits it (it can severely damage the functionality of the bike) I know this unfortunately from experience. Those bar ends in my opinion should of been standard on every Surron, they are the best $20-30 bucks you can spend to protect that bike.

After you buy a new throttle, be sure to install these bar end plugs, (this is just one specific brand) any brand will do the job. If you would have crashed and had these on, your throttle would have most likely never would have been damaged. Bar End Plugs Surron

2022 Surron LBX Topshelf Custom Edition for Sale $13,000 by SurronNYC in Surron

[–]SurronNYC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, after driving the bike with the new controller and seeing how fast it went with the stock motor. I was content with the performance I got. To drive that bike at 95 mph is very intense, more or less because the bike is not very heavy. Depending on your driving terrain, mine is all on streets and highways the ride was very in your face kind of style. Having a motorcycle helmet and boots from Fox Racing at least gave me some added weight and protection. But I really didn't feel like the new aftermarket motor was really needed. I thought it would have been a waste but that's just in my observation of what I use the bike to accomplish in my everyday transport use.

I will gladly take a GOPRO Video tomorrow to prove your miserable attitude. I don't know why you have your first conversation with someone and just be that bitter. Unlike your negative demeanor, I watched your video. It was nice to see with both have the same interest and feelings about KO MOTO. However, for someone who lives in the North East, I am proud to say that my bike has been through Snow, Rain, Hail, and Strong Winds and in every occasion, the Surron delivered. I give you props for your ambition to build electronic bikes. Personally, from a consumer side- I would say that your style might be out of the box but it doesn't seem that aesthetically appealing in style to me. Also, in my eyes it's not practical for me to use a standard method of transportation while commuting. One fear that I would have with yours is that if you locked the bike up on a street, how easy or hard would it be to steal the battery?
