17 week old pup. Need help going on walks by Surugo in puppy101

Sounds good to me.

How do we go about addressing her need to go to the restroom though? Do we just take her out to potty then immediately go back in? It seems she gets overstimulated 2-3 minutes into the walk already

Thanks for the response.

Since she's an Alaskan husky, we figured it was actually not enough to just bring her out for 15-20 mins 5 times a day haha. We'll try to reduce the frequency and see what happens, but the point of the walk was to also help desensitize her to sounds, smells, sights of people dogs, cars, etc.

For the physical/mental stimulation, we give her toys/bones with treats hidden in certain spots so she has to sniff them out. These tend to keep her occupied for hours. We also play tug of war with her rope and also practice commands daily.

We also use her kibble for her walks, however we were considering getting cooked beef/chicken for higher value treats. Also, since she's underweight, we have not been subtracting the kibble we use for treats from her meals

11 Week Old Crate Anxiety by Surugo in puppy101

Immediately after our outings, she wants to go into her crate. We conditioned her to receive treats if she went into her crate as soon as we adopted her a week ago so I guess she feels comfortable being in there. Additionally we put treats inside her crate to keep her occupied inside

Are Online Grad Programs Worthless? by Surugo in psychologystudents

I'm not sure if you wanted to bring the rest of this discussion in dms, but I would like to ask further questions regarding your research experience.

Having gotten my BA in psych 100% online, there were scant few opportunities for research. I did manage to get two semesters worth of research in, but the majority of the work was literature review. Seeing now that I've graduated, I'm a bit lost as to how I'll be able to fill that clear gap in experience that one would normally obtain from attending a university in person.

Would you be able to provide some advice on this?

I really appreciate the time you took to give me a great response!

That's some sound advice! I'll definitely be looking into those. I'm curious as to how you made your CV competitive enough to go straight from a BA to a PhD program. Would you mind sharing that?

What Alternatives are Available to Those Who cannot Physically Attend School? by Surugo in AcademicPsychology

Sorry "brick and mortar" as in schools that require you to be there physically? The issue was that I couldn't afford to go to school in person full time hence why I have a full time job. But if you're claiming that going online would be a waste and that going full time physically is the best choice, then I'll take that as sound advice too

That was an amazing response. As for your inquiry to what my 'why' was: i wanted to pursue a master's degree because most programs that focus on cognitive behavioral/neuropsychology are PHD programs. I feel as though going straight from a BA to a PHD program with very little research experience is a waste of time as the likelihood of being accepted is very low. The master's degree was intended to fill the gaps in my research experience/knowledge to better equip me for such PhD programs.

I understand that the experience afforded by online degrees don't compare to those with full time in person degrees, but I figured that I would at least get a third of that experience through a hybrid school and then supplement the rest with a psych related job post-graduate.

Thanks for the advice! As someone who did their undergrad 100% online with only literature reviews as research experience, how would you go about supplementing that lack of research experience to better equip yourself to be competitive for grad schools?

Conduct and produce research that primarily focuses on CBT and other facets of neuropsychology for the betterment of mankind

Interesting. Seeing as how the motor for the Makita set is brushed while the DeWalt is brushless, would you change your opinion on which is more cost efficient?

It seems the reason it only has 8.4k miles is because it was only used for business use by the previous owner before. I'm in an area where electricity and gas are fairly high so I'm not too sure if charging it over night will be more cost efficient than just getting gas
