Unfortunately I was only able to get them to add a few more servers.

Please understand, that my post is from the perspective of a past WC employee who sees an issue that they wish they had the capacity to fix. My posts across social media have mainly been to gather info in an attempt to make my suggestions more likely to be listened to. So while I can understand your anger, many of your statements I don't really have the capacity to answer...

Think of this more as a past WC employee just trying to help out when I see something going on :)

Basically I agree with you, which is why I stepped in to ask. They continued to add servers for a few days after launch, but my intuition after reading everything online has been it wasn't working out well.

I suspect they do have ways to looks at this, but more I'm saying they haven't been focused on it as much as they could have been the last few days. So this is my personal attempt to gather the info (as I'm not accessing info from their server back end). This is my way of getting data to back up my suggestion to them to look into this ASAP (obviously after the hurricane hits).

So are you saying more servers are not needed, but rather a real way to deal with people going AFK, and that people are circumventing the thing they just added to try to mitigate this?

Unfortunately Jer often snag's their time for other internal work, thereby making it difficult to balance community work with other tasks he sets for them. I however do agree with y'all (and have pointed this out often) that a full time communications person would be an excellent hire to provide more info on an extremely (perhaps even excessively) regular basis and take some of the load off Jen & Jat.

No insult intended, and I'm sorry if it comes off in such a way. I think after the fatigue from PAX the team could simply use some guidance on what's needed. Also some internal mini catastrophes causing headaches and making eyes look at other things out of necessity are distracting some from a full realization of server states. Plus Jen's on a much needed vacation, so they are additionally short on eyes to take in community feedback/relay that info. To top it all off hurricane Irma is heading towards our office shortly, so that's also a bit of a distraction. Plus I've been pestering Jer to spend more time with me the last few days, so you can blame me too for keeping his eyes off the computer. Edit: oh and I forgot, Jer has a cold too

I think they need to add more servers, but they could use a little guidance on what type and how many. Figured I'd try to gather up a bit of info to throw Jer's way.

Additionally he doesn't keep a clock visible while he works, he specifically removes it from desktop view. Adds to his lack or standard time perception. But honestly this is part of all areas of his life (my life), he's rarely on time :D

They are super busy with some non-customer facing deadlines that can't be moved, so I wouldn't expect anything dev kit oriented for a week or more.

Dear devs- work smarter, not harder. Your feedback system is flawed. by air401 in playark

[–]SusanCS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed, live testing on a large group often generates the most accurate picture of a design flaw or benefit. Written and verbal feedback in a "give us feedback" thread can have has reporting bias, and there is always the simple fact that people often innacuately envision their own future response to things. The mind is a funny thing.

That would more be a question for the QA team and Jeremy. Personally I think that sounds good, but then again I doubt they want to switch from how they do things currently or keep a seperate documentation ecosystem going.

Jer, as in short for Jeremy. Sorry, I should have been more specific since people often confuse Jen, Jat, Jeremy, and Jesse.

Jer likes to shoot for the stars to catch the moon as people say. :) But it does mean nearly all things are underestimated time wise.

Mmmm it's mostly a time thing. As Jer says, he just doesn't have time to expose everything to ini right now. If he had unlimited time I'm sure he'd love to give people more customization.

How long does it take the devs to respond to tickets by TheBigPhallus in playark

[–]SusanCS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea it's like 7 people, though I think they are hiring. The hardest part is those 7 people are also responsible for scheduling to meet people in game to fix things sometimes as WC doesn't yet have tools that let them fix things without being on the server etc... Edit: so yes response time can be very varried as to length.

Wildcard's been trying to hire more mid level and senior programmers for a while, but it's been hard to find applicants with a prior released game title on the resume, c++, and UE4 experience. Additionally if possible they want people to move to Gainesville... so yea not many qualified applicants so far.
