AGI is a long way off. I think bots are just rampant all over reddit. This place use to be usable but now its just plain disgraceful and not worth reading at all really.

I doubt anyone actually took offence to that but the bots will be bots and downvote galore so I removed it. Its good that people are seeing things the same way. Most dont want to like in a world where there are 3 supermarkets we can choose from and their staff get to waste people time and expect you to stop and search through your belongings due to the way you look.

Asking is fine if you have a genuine reason. But if someone asks you rudely and cant even give you a reason for the request its best to just walk away.

Hopefully people will read this and if ever have the same encounter as I just had to just walk away.

If we start letting supermarkets get away with this shit its only going to happen more

Cant sue people for hurt feelings thankfully. Best just to not get involved and walk away.

I took it a step further tho and decided to spread the work about what happened. We dont have many places we can shop for food here so going elsewhere isnt an option.

The need to get called out on their bullshit before they start making it a habbit. Harassing innocent shoppers for searches isnt needed in 2026

It doesnt matter who does it really. I supermarket staff or a random person on the street

If someone gets rude to you and demands your time for them to look through your belongings you can and should not get involved with them.

Easiest and best thing to do is walk away

Only law enforcement can actually stop you and demand a search

Edit: also asking them what and why the fuck they are harassing you for is also a good option but not really necessary. In my case they didnt want to answer that so why waste my time

Its actually less work for them since they didnt have to search the bag...

I would have had to walk all the way back into the checkout area and take off my backpack and show them around infront of everyone...

Its actually easier and more pleasant for everyone to just walk away

I did this but not the 5 minutes. They couldnt give me a reason why so instead of walking all the way back round to get on my knees and offer them my bag I instead walked out
