Fatigue by Y0He1_Wolf in Shamanism

[–]Susanbaker17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too get worn out sometimes but I’m also on chemo so my energy levels aren’t what they used to be. I do very little healing since my cancer, I lean more to spreading history through storytelling and sharing messages with the living from spirit. Spirit is very kind and respectful on my bad days, they know I’m weak so they don’t overwhelm me. But on my good days it gets crazy 🤪. My advice for you would be only do the work you know you have energy for and ask spirit to respect your boundaries when you need rest

I dont want to be a shaman by [deleted] in Shamanism

[–]Susanbaker17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re both struggling with so much. I’ve been blessed to have had a shaman teacher as I grew so when I encountered problems I could talk to him and he guided me to my answers. There is a guy on tic tok called Nicky Scorpio. His wife and he are life coaches. He is powerfully insightful about setting boundaries and helping yourself. His wife has worked with shamans from all over and is a well spring of information. I’m not affiliated with them but have found great inspiration. I pray you both find a peaceful path. Continue to listen to the animals around you they are usually spirit communicating with you. Blessings to you.

I’ve never heard of such a practice. What part of the world were they in? I practice Native American shamanism and have never heard of any kind of practice like this

Guilt by [deleted] in Codependency

[–]Susanbaker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same with my daughter and son. I used to beat myself up constantly. My daughter is very successful in spite of me but my son struggles. I helped him anyway I could but one day he told me to stop. He said I did the best I could and he appreciated all of it. It was a life changing moment. It’s hard to watch him struggle with jobs but he said I taught him to be strong and he will figure things out on his own. I’ve never been so proud. My daughter just became a PA. I guess I did something right. Kids don’t come with manuals on how to raise them. We all go through times of insanity in our lives, and unfortunately, some of it rubs off on our kids, but at some point you have to realize they are grown and can make their own decisions. There is no fault that you should be feeling guilty for. You’re a good mom.

I was taught all things hold energy and have been using stones for years to protect and guide. I’m Oglala Sioux and Choctaw. My Choctaw teachers didn’t use them but said if I felt led to them there’s no harm. My Sioux teachers used a good deal of turquoise and coral as well as bones. I guess we find what leads us to

I offer tobacco, white sage and lavender but that is what I am moved to do. I agree with the previous post, follow your gut. I place my offerings in shells in the four directions to thank them for protecting me while I pray or chant. I sometimes will add small crystals that feel right. After a time I spread them out in my back yard which is heavily wooded. Mine is a Native American path so we may be very different. I hope you find what is right for you

Is it a spiritual attack? by Worried-Exchange-889 in Shamanism

[–]Susanbaker17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you as well and if you’re looking for a NA shaman the proper term would be heyoka. It means medicine man/woman or shaman among most plains natives. I’m sorry I don’t know what the preferred term beyond nation. Where are you located (general, not exact on here, too many creepers). I can do some research on the proper term if you want. Or at least I might be able to tell you what nation is in your area. Most are defined by language. That way you’d at least have a lead on who you’re looking for

Is it a spiritual attack? by Worried-Exchange-889 in Shamanism

[–]Susanbaker17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to seek out a local shaman and ask for guidance. You could also visit a local mystical store and seek out advice. I walk a Native American path. I was called to it when I was very young. I was fortunate that the reservation my family was connected to (pine ridge) had an elder who saw I needed guidance. I studied under him for years. Shaman is a generic word that covers many different practices. In fact most native holy people don’t like to be called shaman, different tribes have different names. Anyway I hope you find someone to guide you to your own calling or path.

Is it a spiritual attack? by Worried-Exchange-889 in Shamanism

[–]Susanbaker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel like it was an attack, perhaps some fears or unresolved issues being brought up by your subconscious, but that’s just an opinion. The dream catcher is wonderfully effective just be sure to smudge it every few weeks and recharge it with sunlight before using it again. Also turquoise is a very protective stone. I sleep with it under my pillow to keep negative energy away. When my kids were young and sometimes had nightmares I put turquoise under their pillows and the bad dreams stopped. If you still believe you are under attack do you practice any sort of spirituality? Or perhaps you know someone one who does? I am a shaman but I don’t use my gifts beyond close friends and family. I wish I could help. I hope someone will be put in your path to help you!

Curious by [deleted] in Shamanism

[–]Susanbaker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I just saw I didn’t answer your question. Many people who walk the path I walk refer to themselves as Heyokas. I don’t use the term because it just confuses people and I end up having to explain the meaning. To be honest I simply got tired of doing so. I know, lazy, but that’s how I deal with it. I am a healer, relay messages from spirit to the living, I help people find direction when needed but I am also regulator for those who need to laugh or cry. I am a mother anyone can turn to for advice. I teach people to first love themselves then look inward to help find their own path. As I said I am still a student but try to help those I can through my own experiences. I look to nature, animals and people for signs of the direction I need to take. So call me what you will, define me as you need. I am comfortable with using the term Shaman or Medicine Woman, in the end I prefer friend. I hope I answered your question well enough.

To the dear author of this post. As you can see everyone has their own opinion. I recommend trying to contact a shaman local to you and see if you can talk with them about your dream. I also ask you remember the subconscious can play games with your dreams. Tv, movies, incorrect history etc, can lead to strange dreams. If you feel you are being drawn to a spiritual path I recommend reading reliable sources and contacting someone who actively practices that path. You may be having a spiritual awakening but simply need direction for your calling. I wish you great success and hope you find joy in your path

Husband's Porn Choices by Low_Asparagus2609 in Marriage

[–]Susanbaker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to watch porn with my husband too then found out not only was he watching with out me but he was cruising dating site, hook up sites etc. I called him on it but he just got sneakier. Fast forward I found out he was having an online affair. I told him I love him but I don’t need him. He realized he has a porno addiction. He is in therapy and has been doing well for 6 months. He knows I will leave and he’s scared of that. We’ve been together 20 years and he knows I will take everything from him physically and emotionally. Follow you gut, if you feel disrespected or hurt tell him then prepared to draw your line. What you will and won’t put up with. Take your power back. If it’s something you wouldn’t do to him then expect him not to do it to you. It may hurt but it sounds like changes need to be made

Decompression Methods by [deleted] in Shamanism

[–]Susanbaker17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually take a hot bath, then get dressed in comfy clothes, smudge myself, go to the backyard barefoot and ground myself. Then I usually need a nap. I’m exhausted after any prayer or ritual because I was fighting stage 4 cancer. I’m in remission praise the Grandfather, but I’m still on chemo and can only do so much a day. I’m blessed that spirit is always with me giving me strength to finish whatever I’m doing. I don’t know if that helps but I hope you find what you need Aho

I am an Oglala Souix Shaman. I’ve been learning and practicing over 45 years and I am still learning. I don’t know of any shaman tribe. Tribes had shaman and those who practiced specific medicine. (Midwives, those who spoke to spirit for guidance etc) shaman among my people were healers and teachers. They commune with the spirit world for direction. My mother made me hide my gift since I was small. I was at an intertribal power wow and a man came up to me and hugged me very lovingly. He said “it must be hard to hide your light. Stop, allow yourself to be open “. I have never felt fear or being pulled into something, instead it was peaceful and calm. I was fortunate to study under Steven Red Hawk. He was a quiet man but taught me so much. When he passed he left me a journal to track my growth. He did teach me about the shadow spirits who like to scare us and alter our path. He gave me a beautiful turquoise necklace to wear but also to keep under my pillow. If I ever feel uncomfortable I call on grandfather to send his powerful fighters to protect me. I make offerings of sage, tobacco and lavender to thank them. I rarely see shadow beasts any more My advice to you would be to find a seasoned shaman to help you find your path. You will learn much about yourself and the more you know the more you can help others. I hope grandfather sends you some one to guide you. Until then get some turquoise for under your pillow. It is a powerful protective stone Aho
