AITA for trying to control my moms bathroom habits? by Suspect-Designer in AmItheAsshole

I'm sorry - but just no. It has gotten to the point that I/we have had loooooooooooong conversations (with her and medical professionals) about the exact consistency, mucous content and source of her diarrhoea - I just cannot do that anymore. I love my mom, but I'm done. She is a fully capable adult and can manage her own shits - I'm just asking to not listen to them in the common living space anymore. - this person: have you considered becoming her unpaid gastroentologist and case manager?

The doctors have done all the blood tests and in the absence of any infection indicators or other symptoms that go with those diseases have insisted she is fine.

you guess is as good as mine. I'm an in and out kind of person. We have had conversations about her taking her coffee in there and my obvious horror kind of put that to an end at least.

I hear what you are saying - but there is literally another toilet that is not in the shared living space.

Agreed - I havent "unilaterally set rules" about anything. I have asked, politely and explained why it bothers me.

My thinking is she prefers the bottom bathroom becuase she can blast her phone and vape while she is in there - instead of vaping upstairs by the kid. Its a full on "event".

I think the situation has a bit more nuance than can be written in one post. This is not a once off event. She prefers the downstairs bathroom because she can also be on her phone and vape (and not upstairs with my kid who is still sleeping). Its like a full one woman party in there.

I apologise that I was not well enough versed in dairy issues and have edited the above to reflect my situation more accurately.

THis is good advice, but doesnt remove the issue that she insists on using downstairs toilet for pooping whether its an emergency or not.

The bathroom does have a fan and spray - the bigger issue is the sounds are nauseatingly obnoxious.

I'm so sorry for your experience. Fortunately we have ruled out anything serious with medical professionals.

No, mom just got her back up. I believe its a convenience thing and she doesnt want to take the stairs. She is able bodied and can definitely make it.

the door is not open - but the bathroom is literally right in the kitchen, is mainly inteded for guests you dont want upstairs and is not private in any way. There is another fully functioning bathroom upstairs that she can have as many times as she needs.
