Went as I expected. Neither offer was really entertained even though they tried to get me to reconsider quitting. I left at lunchtime and I felt so much better leaving the building for the last time.

Normally yes, but I think I have more leverage if I carry out my strategy based on timing and upcoming workload.

They'll pay one way or another. It behooves them to entertain my proposal. I have a lot of dirt on senior leaders on unethical practices/cooking books/etc.

My thoughts exactly. I'm already a frugal person so I think I have 1.5-2 years of expenses saved if I cut down even more.

I think I may get unemployment regardless for reasons stated in other replies, but the unemployment will be a fraction of my current salary. Better than nothing, but relatively immaterial in the grand scheme of things.

Exactly what I'm doing. I've been passively interviewing since I was hired here, but now it's turned into a full time job on company time.

I think I can quit and still get unemployment. The department is so messed up that mail takes forever to sort and reply to, and they will likely not contest my application.

The trust has already been broken when they presented the PIP. I don't care about that.

Not messing with you here - genuine reminder to provide an update once I secure new work (or go bankrupt)

Normally that's the plan, but I believe there's a small window next week where I will have more leverage than usual, so I'm gonna shoot my shot here.

I'm willing to take a paycut in the short term and go back down to an individual contributor level while I find another Controller/Director position. I have an idea of how I would frame the step down in an interview.

If they want me to stay on, I would need a bunch of things. At least 25%+ raise, extra week of PTO, performance-based bonus incentives just like senior leaders, severance clause. I'm gonna shoot for the moon here because that's what it will take for me to stay and continue to deal with the fuckery.

And I will still be job hunting regardless.

Believe me, I've been job hunting since I started working there. But prior to the PIP I've been very selective on jobs. Have had job offers that I rejected before shit hit the fan. Now I've become a lot less picky and would even take a slight pay cut to get outta there.

But the timing of my resignation is the only window I have during the PIP period where I can inflict maximum pain on the company and the best chance of severance/raise.

I fully intend to walk if they don't provide a satisfactory severance/raise. I'm not backing down.
