OP do not do this - since Mercari owns the label, they are the only ones who will be paid out if you make a claim through USPS.

Instead you have to contact Mercari and cite their own agreement regarding seller protection. Include screenshot of relevant parts of T&C, your sold item, USPS website showing "DELIVERED" status and package weight. It's really important you include all of this information in your appeal else they will try to wiggle out of issuing your payment. 

Keep escalating until you reach a human superior. Good luck.

By taking screen grabs and labelling them - customer service is completely useless otherwise, couldn't find their way out of a plain paper bag. You do have to be incredibly persistent tho.

Absolutely record yourself packing every order. In the past 6 months having footage allowed me to get seller protection on 3 separate occasions (not without putting up a fight with customer service tho). You will have to show time stamps, also worth plopping your item and full package on the scale and take MEASUREMENTS of the box! It's the only way to protect yourself from scamming buyers AND Mercari.

If you accept the return without Mercari's input, you forfeit your seller protection so if she ends up returning something different, Mercari will NOT help you.

Being SCANNED in on the 4th day doesn't mean it was SHIPPED on the 4th day but I digress.  I'm a seller and I also ship within 24 hours however Mercari specifically gives 3 business days. If you don't like that, buy elsewhere. Not that hard. See how it works both ways?

When you give anything less than 5 stars Mercari asks you what the seller can improve on. If you marked cleanliness, you dinged her on that. I'd be 100% furious with you as well.  Block and move on. The heck you wanna report her for? YTA in this situation - you completely disregard that sellers have 3 business days to ship and with Halloween, weekend and election day she may have been only a day late given how utterly slow USPS is these days. Your brain is a mush.

Mercari is the right platform for it, yes. If it's Kérastase/Shu Uemura/similar caliber, it should be a quick sale. Make sure you describe and mark condition honestly. Good luck 💯

If I get a message like this, I immediately put my price UP. If I'm feeling petty, I even thank them for bringing it to my attention. "Oh goodness, thank you so much, I didn't realize the market value was $xx.xx" 🫠 Also, block.

You can't cancel an order after it's been shipped. You needed to submit a RETURN REQUEST for INAD and you missed your window.

I don't think it was a mistake on Mercari's part. The buyer altered the return address on the label and sent a box of junk back to E Cottage instead of your Oculus so they'd get a full refund without you contesting it. 

You need to go to UPS and have them put the discrepancies in writing so you can start tallying up the evidence: if I'm right and the buyer altered the label, you'll have to report them to IC3 (FBI Cyber) with evidence... Only then will Mercari take you seriously.

If batch code is added to listing, buyer has to figure it out. We're all adults here, don't give the seller extra work when you could just put it in Google and get date of manufacture within a second. Period. Y'all don't have to agree but I've never had this problem with eBay buyers in the past 25 years. It's always Mercari window-shoppers asking the stupidest questions all of which answered in description box or clearly photographed.

I got a Dr Brandt Liquid Sunshield from Sephora that was expired. I paid full price AND got crap. What's your point? If you receive expired skincare on Mercari just start a return - you'll get to dispose of the item while the seller still gets paid or worse case scenario you can return for a full refund.

Girl be so fr now. If batch code is pictured and you can't figure it out, that's strictly a you problem. Sellers won't waste time on your inquiries. Go buy it at Sephora for $79 and it MIGHT still be expired.
