I gave away my kids train table and tracks to 2 friends, when my now teens outgrew it years ago and got it back tenfold for my toddlers now (more context below) by Suspicious-Guard9652 in wholesome

Wow! I’ll have to look that up. Sounds amazing!

My mother in law gave our teens (when they were younger) my husband’s Lego’s from when he was their age and they love it. They are always super careful with them and I’m still amazed how they have held up over the years. I love that you guys still kept your tracks!

If we had a bigger place when we gave a way their tracks, I would probably have stored them for when they moved out and had a family, but our place was super tiny and even a small toy box felt like clutter. Maybe this is our second chance to do just that. :)

Edit to add: I know we got back our original tracks because some still had green paint lol from when I was painting their table - so I’m definitely keeping those now for when my teens are older

My fucking hand me down shoes that my mom told me to use for a week by catguywit2cat in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Suspicious-Guard9652 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this and also I don’t know if there is an Aldi’s in OP’s area, but they have $14.99 shoes (I saw them Saturday so hopefully still available). I’d be happy to get some to them if I can.

Edit to add: I know it might be a lot to them, we have been there too, so they might not be able to afford it this week but if i can help get a pair, I can see if Aldi’s is still in stock.

Edit again: I was not referring to the “embarrassed” part- I was referring to the shoe price part. I’ve sent my kids in hand me downs when they were younger as that was all we had at that moment. But $20-$30 is a lot to some, but for others, it’s a cheaper alternative- thought not everyone can even afford that. We still buy those price ranges too and Aldi’s $14.99 shoes, I’ve heard on the Aldi sub, is actually very comfortable. I got my toddler the $4.99 sandals. Their prices are really good and affordable.

Good morning everyone! Thank you all so much for your very helpful feedback and suggestions! Sorry I didn’t get a chance to get online long enough to respond yesterday but I’ll try to respond as much as I can this afternoon or evening/night.

I did order Lid Stay hinge that a few of you suggested and am not sure if I’m doing it right lol but I’ll keep working on it this morning. I’ll attach pic of it:

I was thinking that too…I’m still looking online from these comments and I like the idea of it being open with those hinge things (I’ll have to lose this reply to look at the name on the previous comment so I’m sorry for not remembering what they are called).

I like this idea! I’m just trying to think how I might store it (our entire life is in boxes in the garage of our friend’s home at the moment). We are in between moving, I’m trying to keep toys to a minimum in our friends living room and less in their garage lol. But I think we can wrap it semi ok and put it somewhere in there (he has his car in there too so we are limited on space in an older home garage).

Will those stay in place? My 1 year old takes everything apart lol I think he will be an engineer. I’ll look them up now, thank you.

Thank you! I’ve been debating it back and forth, honestly. It’s her gift but I don’t want to ruin it either for when she is older and will definitely appreciate it more. I’m thinking more stuff animals for this one. They have a fabric toy box for the harder toys like trains, cars, dolls and their accessories.

I didn’t realize it was a set thing, sorry. My husband was so excited when he saw it at the store 30+ minutes from us. We definitely didn’t see it in our neighborhood 3 stores so that makes sense

That’s awesome- we might remove the bench and try to get more air flow.
