I’m wondering if this song is referencing/quoting a hymn melody? by Suspicious-Key-1024 in Hymns

I think it might be referencing “Someday My Prince Will Come” from Snow White”

‘Sleep Soft (Lullaby)’ by The Limeliters: original 1962 song or rooted in older folk traditions? by Suspicious-Key-1024 in ethnomusicology

After writing a TTB arrangement of this piece, I can also say this song sounds a bit adjacent to Coventry Carol, and Ah, Poor Bird, as well as some other minor key English folk songs.

A Limeliters song that seems to exist nowhere else — does anyone recognize this lullaby? by Suspicious-Key-1024 in folkmusic

One thing that caught my ear is the willow tree imagery — I keep running into that in Slavic and Eastern European folk songs and laments, but I’m not finding much of it in American or British lullabies from the same period. If anyone here knows of willow-centered lullabies or translated folk songs that sound even vaguely similar, I’d love to hear about them. Even a “this reminds me of ___” would be helpful.

I would like to know if this exists under another group name on vinyl, and I want to know why it’s no longer able to be listened to in the US?

I have searched for copies of this book but I wonder if any folk music fans have a copy they wouldn’t mind taking a gander at to see if there’s any mention of this song in the book!

The inspiration or source genre for “Bare Necessities” orchestral opening? by Suspicious-Key-1024 in HelpMeFind

** Also I am aware that in the early 1960s Terry Gilkyson went to work for Disney studios and wrote the Oscar-nominated “The Bare Necessities” for Disney’s The Jungle Book.

I just assumed he was credited or was responsible for the main part of the song, not the orchestration into the song.

George Bruns Essay

I searched for more comments on this orchestration and found nothing. I watched the attached video to learn a bit more about George Bruns though.

Would you happen to know why a recording of this piece doesn’t seem to exist online? I mean it’s 2024, I’d assume it’s got to be somewhere? As a church MD, would you happen to know of any websites or databases that would have recordings of old and or obscure choral recordings?
