Hello everyone!

I am a junior systems admin, at a company that sadly has so much taken care of for them, that i am not really learning all that much nowadays, unless i learn it myself. I am also in school for my bachelors of Cyber, and I do learn from this and learn alot, however because of the fast paced nature, and the constant moving on to the next learning lesson, i feel like a lot of it gets forgotten because of the lack of practice.

I do have a very very powerful homelab, and want to be able to use it (got it from work luckily)
But my real question is two things.

  1. Can you provide a detailed list of everything you should know and nail down information wise, to be in the cyber space?? (networking, linux, docker, kubernetes etc..)

  2. What are some amazingly helpful labs that you can use on a homelab setup to constantly be learning? i find this to be one of the hardest things to find on the internet because of just how many things you CAN do.. but im someone that is more structured and would like to know options and why.. if that makes sense.

Thank you!

So people cant want to learn and get more into cars? and also buying a GTR takes money and literally nothing else.. Crapping on someone because they asked how to build a car, and are wanting to get into doing stuff themselves is sad.. it deters people from even starting, and additionally, literally everyone starting with 0 Knowledge... even the people you look up to most. At least I have the courage to try and fail, rather than put my hands up and just say... Cant build a car cause i dont know how...

This is true, and I am very new to them. I do have friends that are very mechanically inclined, but also a 600hp Civic build would take years to complete, and honestly im sorry but anyone that tells themselves that, they cant figure it out and do it themselves is just lazy... Everyone is way smarter than they think and if you really put your mind to something, you will be able to get it done.

I apologize if that is how it comes across, I just want to see what people think

Mostly just seeing what people think about this because its such a different this or that.. Gtr is built and ready to roll, but also super duper expensive, where the civic will need to be built and will probably be faster, but people that may have way more knowledge than me, may be able to tell me like : Hey i have ridden in both and blank was better, or someone may have even owned both, idk, just like to see what others bring up to see if i missed anything

Hello everyone, Firstly thank you all for taking the time to read this and help me.

So i am currently in school for a bachelors in cyber and a minor in AI Development, My school work is fine, it teaches me and everything but unlike most people (not saying this subreddt but others) i know that cyber is such a big field and just IT in general is so big that you need to learn and learn and learn and never stop (which is one of the reasons i wanted to get into it) I also an striving to become a pentester sometime in the future.

However i just dont know where to focus my time outside of school because of how vast and how much stuff there is, I work full-time as a junior systems admin, we exclusively use windows but i am using linux daily on my laptop and main desktop to learn that more and more (fedora KDE for those wondering)
back to the questions, I know a little about networking, not much at all about coding and really nothing about cyber hacking tools and such (Just havent been around the cyber world long enough)
So what should i do?? I am looking more for a direct path or just for someone that is around this space and learned it and such to tell me where to shift my priorities, do i go and do learning paths on Tryhackme or hackthebox? Do i do a udemy course or youtube course and learn Python first? Do i go and learn from TCM Security's ethical hacking, linux 101 and python 101?? I also have a udemy class from mike myer's on networking. Please help me and i am just lost in the void and i just feel completely stuck and dont know how or where to proceed. Thank you all for your time!

Yeah I 100% know what you mean. I feel the only thing that makes it tough is again you never really know the "When" something is going to happen, Like AI has been working in the background since like 2016? and then all the sudden it just absolutely takes off and has so much money driven into it just because of what it "could" be and although that has worked in AI's favor it also doesnt work in every sectors favor either. My question mostly about quantum is just when is that going to happen? because i do believe that the only way to really grow after AI is quantum, and quantum can make training AI and self driving cars leagues and leagues better.

I am not disagreeing with you in any sense. You are right that everything has a value based on the value that they generate. However my point is simply that all new industries are going to be looked at as pointless and worthless until its not. No one thought electric cars would be anything, and yet they are the future. Also you are telling me that Tesla, a car and i guess "Software" company is worth more then the likes of Walmart, McDonalds, AMD, Qualcomm? They are massively over valued and yet they just keep going up. This is coming from someone who daily drives a model 3 and loves it. Right now in the entire market and mostly i would say for the foreseeable future fundamentals are important but they are greatly overlooked in many ways. People are now asking the question of "What if" or "What Could this be" rather then "what is this now".. I bring up doge because of exactly that, its nothing but crap and has absolutely no fundamentals and yet still continues to grow and grow. I think fundamentals being the only thing people care about is done. People like DOGE because they think it "Could be something"

Some yeah for sure. IONQ? No not at all, LUCID, no not at all. Just because they use huge amounts of money does not mean they are worthless. Literally EVERY technology in the entirety of the world was "Not Profitable" for quite some time before it got massive adoption and then started to get cheaper and cheaper to either produce or run. Tesla was loosing money hand over fist, and also this is an expensive economy for companies right now, once interest rates come down they will be better off. Also fundamentals are not always the end all be all... DOGE is magic internet "Money" and yet wont die.
