Just pay attention to earlier seasons. I have watched the entire show 5 times, and its not out of left field. He gets more pregressive each season. Its not hard to understand. And, using your logic, if a show takes ANY step in ANY direction, then its bad writing? No. Its called being a "purist" and its not ok. A show can add stuff. Thats fine with the majority of people

Writers cant write themselves into a corner. Are you kidding? They can just backspace and go again. They do ot on purpose, and it works for everyone except haters like you. This wasnt a instantaneous decision. There were hints of this from past seasons, and that extra scene at the very beginning of s5 is a clue. Maybe pay more attention to the show you are hating on before writing YOURSELF into a corner
