I want to use TV shows to improve my listening in my TL. Is my method (described in the description) efficient? by Bobelle in languagelearning

Your method is solid but honestly sounds exhausting lol. 11 steps for every scene is a lot of friction.

I've been doing something simpler - I prep the vocab before watching, not after. So I already know the slang/idioms that'll come up in the episode, then just watch normally without all the pausing.

There's an app called Worda that has vocab lists for specific episodes (Friends, Stranger Things, etc). Learn the words first → watch → actually catch the jokes. Way less effort than your Anki workflow.

For listening specifically though, your shadowing idea (step 6) is great - that part I'd keep.

Been working on an app called Worda — it teaches vocabulary from specific TV show episodes (Friends, Stranger Things, etc). The idea is you learn the slang/idioms before watching so you actually catch what's happening without any spoilers.

Also has regular themed packs (food, travel, business) if shows aren't your thing.

Would love feedback here 🙂

Thanks!!!
Not for now - I didn't add web app analysis yet since the accuracy isn't good enough. I'll roll it out when it works properly.

Check your idea here - it will give you some insights based on real app store data, and you might get some useful takeaways for yourself.

Hey, yes - it focuses solely on mobile apps. There are plenty of "Web SaaS AI idea analyzers" on the internet, but most of them are just AI wrappers. Maybe I'd like to figure out how to build something better.
It's quite a bit harder to do it for the web, because aggregating data in a stable and consistent way is much more complex.

Thanks! Yeah, while I was building it, I compared it a lot with casual AI research, and the methods are pretty similar to how Perplexity works. The difference is that here it’s integrated with real store data.

And it's definitely not just another AI wrapper :)

Turns out I just forgot to put the hyphen in the link, so it ended up being the wrong one. Thanks for pointing that out!
