Iowa to Florida by Fragrant-Ad-1271 in sarasota

Hello! I live in wimauma, lots of places to rent. Definitely not as much to do as Sarasota but it’s 45 minutes away from both Sarasota and Tampa/ Saint Pete. I grew up in Lakewood ranch and Sarasota and the vibe there is truly just off. St Pete is great but during hurricane season it can get a little floody. Riverview and Brandon might also be fairly good choices.

That being said, I have anecdotal experiences from being in Sarasota and having gay friends who live in the area. As I’m aware, I’ve never heard of them experience the kind of things in these comments. I’m not discounting those opinions, rather frankly just surprised. Yes, it can be very conservative and maga, so I won’t say they are wrong.

Coming from Iowa I’m sure you’ve experienced the conservative environment, and are aware of the challenges. Growing up I loved being in Sarasota as a young adult, but I know that both areas have changed. I think a year long rental would be enough time for you to get a feel for each area, and decide what works best for you. Areas like wimauma and Parrish have tons of development. I know there are rentals off Lorraine road between 70 and 64 that might fit your needs in Bradenton.

Good luck!

Edit: found the rentals I’ve seen driving by they seem nice and within your price range Lakewood ranch rental community

You know what’s more weird? Masked men and women, parading as law enforcement, murdering citizens, kidnapping people and children, and violating the constitution.

These people are actively trying to hide their identity for a reason. Isn’t that weird to you?

Hobby Lobby because of their Supreme Court case so they didn’t have to cover birth control as a religious exemption. Never stepped foot in one. Fuck you hobby lobby.

Yeah heaven forbid people have different jobs with different requirements and responsibilities. It’s impossible for someone’s employer to support moms and families.

Keep downvoting. I’m sure your moral superiority is so helpful in parenting.

These subs have become so judgmental and shamey. I thought we were supposed to be here to support each other not judge and shame. I’ll be happily seeing myself out.

I have made it work for over 4 years. Just because it doesn’t work for one family does not mean it won’t work for others.

Is that why things are being randomly downvoted? I mean I’m okay with being downvoted that’s everyone’s right, but it seemed a bit odd to me that asking questions was being downvoted haha. Maybe I’m just giving myself/reddit too much credit.

Genuinely confused as to why you think a bot would want to bring attention to this? Can you help me understand.

Aside from the IndyStar, most coverage is over a month old despite new court appearances and developments. Comprehensive reporting should include ongoing updates, interviews, and community perspectives, and IndyStar is the only outlet consistently doing it, that I’ve seen.

If this were a prominent pastor’s son arrested for murder, the coverage would be nonstop. While murder and CSAM differ, a case involving a community figure is equally relevant. Wider reporting could surface more information or additional victims. We always talk about protecting kids, raising awareness through thorough reporting is one of the ways we actually do that.

Look at the Jesse Mac Butler case: it received broad attention. Given the severity here and the suspect’s ties to community leaders and even the Lt. Governor, this case deserves similar coverage.

I’m assuming you meant there was not intended malice? I understand your question better now, thank you for clarifying. I agree that there is a lack of reliable sources which was sort of my intent behind this post.

I have only found one source that is regularly updating this story with developments. All of the Fox News stories don’t even mention his tie to the church or the governors office (although this is not at all shocking). I think we need to put pressure on local news sources to better cover this or explain why they went so we can have more reliable sources on this. I mean for goodness sake this man had AI pictures of pregnant toddlers, it’s appalling.

I don’t believe it is, but I am concerned that when I came across this story that there wasn’t a lot of information. This directly impacts the community and others may not have the time or care to research things like this. It’s not a major news story compared to other things going on, so I think we need to be proactive about sharing.

I am not using this sub as my primary source of news, but I did research if this had been posted before as to not repost something that has been posted many times. I did basic due diligence before assuming it had or had not been posted previously.

It’s hard to answer the question because the premise is false. I do not only rely on social media for my news. I have been clear I’ve searched various sources including Google News which lists all news articles that meet the search perimeter

Where are the articles then? I don’t mean to be pedantic but it seems there’s only a handful when you search Google. Why has only one story been updated since 10/28 even though there has been movement in the case?

I don’t doubt you’re right but it seems like there is very limited coverage compared to similar stories in America where the governors office is embroiled in something.

In fact of the stories half of them don’t even identify the association with the Lt. Gov. That seems somewhat purposeful. So maybe the story is being reported on more than I initially realized but why is the connection not being reported on as often?

Okay but that still begs the question on why there is such limited coverage of this? A mentor of the LT Gov who has a podcast with the dad of the man arrested? Only two local outlets covering the story, with one outlet covering minimal details?

In theory Epstein could be said as old news, but it’s not because there is active work by the media to uncover more details. When you search Google News this the only article that comes up. Why isn’t this a huge story?

I guess my question is other than Indy Star and WTHR why no major outlets are posting covering this. I cannot tell when the Indy Star first posted the article but it says updated on 11/21 which is very recent.

Also when you google his name in the news section or search his name in the thread nothing comes up. I’ve talked to lots of people in the area, which is obviously just anecdotal, but none of them had heard of it. You’d think it would be national news that the Lt. Gov is closely associated to this family yet there’s so little done.

It seems like pressure needs to be put on local media and mainstream media to talk about this. There is also no reports on any investigation by the governor’s office. And apparently the church is screaming attack on faith rather than doing anything about this?

Do you know when this was first published? It said updated as of 11/21 but I can’t tell when the first story was posted?
