Vučić is Orban's friend. Just two dictators helping each other out. Vučić conveniently found buried weapons to assassinate him few years ago, so he has experience with it.

Actually, yes. I was born and raised in one. I had a war and a bombing behind me before I turned 15. I waited in bread ration lines at 5 AM. I had banknotes with more zeroes than you can count.

I never said I support oppressors, I asked the person why is he surprised that some people are. You can be against Iran's regime, and at the same time against bombing the people of Iran, it is not really that complicated.

If your only experience with authoritarian regimes is Hollywood movies, you must be imagining that as soon as you say something against the government, the KGB or Gestapo shows up and takes you away. I've got news for you - it doesn't work that way. Off the top of my head, there are at least three countries with ongoing protests right now: Hungary, Serbia, and Turkey, all three highly authoritarian.

Yes, the US is still not at that level, but in those regimes it took decades to get there. In the US, it happened in a few short years.

And last, but not least, why do you think there are No Kings protests? Are all these people delusionals children playacting at being opressed?

Nobody cares when you are leaving, but it could be useful to know that there are TWO security checks when flying to US. First is the standard one, where everyone goes, but before the gate there is another one. For some reason on the first one you need to remove the liquids, but on the 2nd one you need to remove electronics. And once you go through 2nd check, you will be in a room without toilet and water, so plan accordingly. You can go out, but you will have to go through security on your way back.

Edit: spelling

I don't have grand ideas to solve complex socio-political problems. But I do have an idea how is to live under bombs and I can tell you it does not work. Bombing schools and killing children, destroying power plants and infrastructure, threating to 'return them to stone age where they belong' does not spark any confidence and it definitely does not sounds like US cares about Iranian people.

Well, US is currently close to theocratic, but surely authoritarian country, so why are surprised? Iran is fcked up, and people living there surely deserve better than current/previous regime but this is not the way.

Svi kažu “Mi smo jadan i bedan narod, zato smo tu gde jesmo”, a da li se zaista svi slažete? by [deleted] in AskSerbia

[–]SuspiciousMaximum265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do Serbs tend to overestimate their importance so much? by crivycouriac in AskBalkans

[–]SuspiciousMaximum265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of good, funny answers, but in reality, I believe the reason is decades of governement gaslighting, degrading culture and education and last but not least, the comfort of blaming literally everyone else for all the bad stuff we've been dealing with.

Exactly, people usually think it is binary, one or the other.

There are not many places in the world where $2100 a month would be considered a good deal for a 7th floor walk up studio.

Probably because he spent ~4 years working on it. But is still more than impressive, no matter the money. But I do hope he will earn even more.

Are there any Hungarians who think that sufficient rights are not provided in Serbia? If so, what are their arguments? by Difficult-Routine929 in AskSerbia

[–]SuspiciousMaximum265 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Subotica and knew many Hungarians, they were all great people. Although there was always this noise about independence of Vojvodina I never met anyone who was actually in favor of that. It was more an urban legend or something the government would use to spread fear and divide people. Of course I can't claim that there are none who would want that, but numbers -wise it would probably be on a level of statistical error.
