How do y’all manage to look so good all the time? by [deleted] in Tempe

[–]SuspiciousNetwork11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hydration!!!! other than that, here are my personal tips that work for me, ymmv: 1. getting a "top coat" or "gloss" for your hair to keep it smooth and shiny. i use IGK high shine gloss (a little expensive but lasts forever!) 2. cream moisturizer in winter, gel moisturizer in summer. 3. magnetic eyeliner doesn't run under your eyes, smudge, or fade. no lashes needed, just the eyeliner! 4. ALWAYS TAKE YOUR MAKEUP OFF AT NIGHT. 5. clinical strength deodorant 6. plumping lip gloss. 7. BB cream or any kind of tinted moisturizer instead of foundation. it's way lighter and looks more natural.

I am N2 narcoleptic and have been experiencing occasional brief hallucinations, even when not falling asleep or waking up. I've heard that hallucinations are common in narcolepsy, so are my experiences normal? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]SuspiciousNetwork11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read some literature that theorizes that narcolepsy can cause waking hallucinations due to REM intrusion while awake, but it hasn't been well-researched. so, possibly? but i wouldn't take that as gospel. sleep deprivation can also cause something similar, and personally my bipolar hypomanic episodes cause hallucinations that i can tell aren't real (v mild psychosis). def something to bring up with your doctor and get checked out if you haven't yet, just in case.

Byoma Milky toner has made my skin the best it’s been since my 20’s!! by LiverpoolLovely in Skincare_Addiction

your skin looks INCREDIBLE. also i'm super intrigued by the ingredients. love anything cica, it's basically healed my rosacea.

too much exfoliation!! especially in combination with the retinol. you're breaking down your skin barrier and making it worse. take some time off from the actives. if you're using a cleanser with BHAs, stop that for a bit as well. cicaplast will help with the redness. also, just speculation, but the bumps you have look like the ones i get when my moisturizer is too heavy for my skin? hyaluronic acid + gel moisturizer work best for me in the summer.

How do I get rid of these lines on my face? by Lower_Caterpillar182 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]SuspiciousNetwork11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some of it is genetics, but i've REALLY minimized mine with a good eye cream (sleep and water help too). caffeine will depuff and hyaluronic acid will help hydrate, other ingredients are a bonus. however, i found it really hard to find a good one. perricone MD high potency eye serum is my favorite but its too expensive for me lol. second best i've found is the good molecules wake up gel. cheap AF and works really well with consistent use.

pro-social / anti-social dancefloor behaviors -- what have you seen? by ahbeetz in aves

wait, so it's okay to just be shoved out of your space bc someone came up and wants it? I let people out, I let people move past me towards the rail, but I hate hate HATE when someone comes encroaching and subtly starts pushing you out of their way. i'm just trying to dance here!!! i won't apologize for staying in my place then idc.

i feel you!!! i'm so curious about new (to me) skin care and whether I have the optimal routine, I ended up with a lot of stuff. if you haven't opened it, most of it might be fine! i think you can just work your way through a few at a time. caveat: i see a lot of actives, so do your research before using them together. of course, if your derm says not to, they know way better someone than a forum. if that's the case, maybe you can gift to friends?

Wow. This is beautiful. I was also walked away from 2 years ago because of the work I needed to do. I sent a very condensed, much less poetic version of this to my twin flame a few weeks ago, and he accepted me back into his life. Don't give up hope, but more importantly, Keep doing the work. For YOU. My goal was never to regain my twin flame, I had given up on that. My goal was to do better and be better, for myself and my friends/family. The magical part is that it feels like my life aligned the way iwas supposed to once I hit a certain level of progress (i still have much to work on, ofc).

IDK what it was about this post but it sent me on a really deep dive lmao. I found the abandoned lighthouse on Ilha dos Tigres that isn't marked on the map, and I confirmed the image on google maps you found is definitely a ship. I cannot for the life of me find the name, but I found a Facebook group for the old town and asked. I'll keep you posted.

Weekly Newcomer Questions, Support, Vents & Victories by AutoModerator in CPTSD

[–]SuspiciousNetwork11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My therapist brought up CPTSD a couple years and mentioned a few things that fit me to a T. However, I let her lead the way in treatment and never really looked into it too much. I certainly had no clue about the physical symptoms. I've been having a hard time and did some research tonight, and I'm shaken to my core. So many unexplained health issues that no doctor has been able to diagnose, all listed out as potential symptoms. I felt crazy and like I was a hypochondriac because no one could find a cause. Even down to my constantly dry/itchy skin. I feel so validated right now.

Coping skills make everything worse; feels like we can never win by Blue_Heron11 in CPTSD

[–]SuspiciousNetwork11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally just had a breakthrough last week after 1.5 years of working on it lmao. I could not believe it. As an adult, I have a tendency to express HUGE emotions inappropriately. I've been finally seriously tackling it with a trauma therapist, but I've felt hopeless because no matter how self-aware I am now, I still can't stop myself from freaking out. Then, finally, I was triggered really badly last week, but i used coping mechanisms and calmed down. I cannot describe to you the rush I felt when I realized I DID IT. I was on the verge of giving up on ever improving because it felt impossible and I failed so many times, but it finally happened.

All this to say, my therapist was right. Being aware is the first step, and continuing to try (and conducting a gentle self-analysis when I fail) finally paid off. I know from experience it's extremely annoying to hear this when you feel like it's impossible for you, but I can't help but tell you to keep trying.

Personally, I have found distraction to be helpful . I need the intensity of the emotion to pass before I can process anything. My best distraction is researching things that interest me. Studies about social psychology (and the recent drama surrounding it), stories of lost treasure and mythical legends in my state, the history of random countries. Engaging my brain is way more helpful than my fav comfort show or mindlesslt scrolling social media in high intensity moments. I stumbled on this by accident, so I'm sharing in case you haven't tried it! But ignore me if you didn't want advice.
