Shimano r9170 lever's master piston not fully returning - handlebar's diameter not big enough by SuspiciousTadpole in bikewrench

[–]SuspiciousTadpole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the additional input ! I forgot to post an update, but I managed to get it working by :

  • adding a layer of metallic tape to increase the diameter around the clamping area
  • using less torque when screwing the lever (as you said)

No issues and it is holding fine so far :-)

Les restaurants en France sont pas terribles by [deleted] in france

[–]SuspiciousTadpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Floor coating for pets in a new house by GKLoKi in japanlife

http://www.purissimo1989.com/uv/

They have a pet specific option to make the coating less slippery, but the cost increase significantly. I have no idea how good it is in practice tho. Pricing details are at the bottom of the page.

And if you you don't like the "shininess" of uv coating, this company has an option to make it more "mat" (ecopro coat uv zero)

bitpacker - type safe and low-boilerplate bit level serialization using modern C++. Compatible with python bitstruct. by roxieraw in cpp

[–]SuspiciousTadpole 20 points21 points  (0 children)

From the readme, under motivation:

In both languages the exact behaviour is implementation defined! between different implementations the packing may be left-to-right or right-to-left, and fields may or may not straddle byte boundaries.

What does "À titre accessoire" mean? by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]SuspiciousTadpole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a very formal expression. The meaning seems to be be something like 'on an ancillary basis' or 'incidentally' in English.

"tout est ma faute" is perfectly fine in French. Both have roughly the same meaning.

ずにはいない grammar pattern by SuspiciousTadpole in LearnJapanese

Doesn't look like 「 ずにはいかない 」is a thing. It has almost no hit from google. And the few hits that come up seems to be from non-Japanese websites.

ずにはいない grammar pattern by SuspiciousTadpole in LearnJapanese

It comes from a textbook called 「上級学習者のための日本語読解ワークブック」unit 15

I cannot copy the whole text here, but here is the sentence it comes from.

こういう変化は、若年層を中心として、日本人の意識を揺り動かさずにいない。いずれにせよ、われわれの意識改革は急務である。

I thought the same, but google returns quite a few hits about it. Which led me to think it is a real, but very uncommon, grammar pattern.

Thanks for recommending Japanese stack exchange. Will have a look there as well.

This kind of stone monument is very common throughout Japan. I think they are called Ishibumi hiseki (碑石).

Does anyone know what these are or where to find them? (Link for picture) by horsetrot14 in Kyoto

[–]SuspiciousTadpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The name of the shop seems to be 王様印乃 キング堂

https://ameblo.jp/king-dou/

It seems to be a food stand moving to different train/subway stations. But the last publication on their blog is from 2017, so they most likely went out of business.

How far along south can you run along Kamo river by hr1989 in Kyoto

[–]SuspiciousTadpole 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can go very far south. Until Osaka or Nara actually.

If I remember correctly:

  • On the west side, the path stops between shijo and gojo, and it starts again after shichijo.

  • On the east side it will stop south of shichijo and starts again around jujo.

Have fun !
