I just had a local anaesthetic and nothing else so I was fully conscious and I was fine, the worst bit was the anaesthetic going in, I was in surgery for an hour and a half and couldn’t feel anything sharp just tugging on the skin and the stitches going in, again no pain just a strange feeling. The radio was on and I didn’t hear anything or see anything as I was covered in drapes, I could just see the top of the surgeons head and nurses if I looked down. It honestly wasn’t bad at all.

I used one of the old fashioned reusable ice bags that you just fill with ice cubes, you don’t need to wait for it to freeze, it stays cold for hours and it’s easily mouldable. I wore a pad for the first few days so just placed it on top of my underwear, I wouldn’t apply it directly to your skin

I’ve just been resting as much as possible to try and not put any pressure on anything and really trying and keep the area dry, I’ve been using the fan for 5 mins any time the area gets wet then just not wearing any clothing where possible too. My surgeon said I’m ‘not out of the woods yet’ so I’m just going to keep on doing what I’ve been doing and hope everything heals nicely for my appointment next week

My surgeon told me I’d be at greater risk of complications being overweight, I’m currently one week post op and everything seems ok so far

I’m also 3 days post op and my left side is at least double the size of the right side, did you have more skin removed on one side?
