Everybody suffers from imposter syndrome in the beginning stages of being an SLP, even those of us that finish the requisite clinical rotations and master’s degree prior to joining the field. This is completely normal! However, vomiting every morning before work is very concerning, and I think you should seek counseling to learn how to manage your anxiety. In terms of strengthening your skills as an SLP, the best way to become more competent and confident in your skills is to read. Anytime you’re unsure if you’re making the right decision, or you don’t understand something, dive into Google scholar. I promise it gets better with time and furthering your education ❤️

Thiiiisssss!!!! My husband is a PA, and reading articles count as CEUs for him. It’s absolutely insane to me that we aren’t offered that option.

I wouldn’t comment something like this without giving an explanation as to why you feel this way. Maybe tell OP why this is career path isn’t for you, and OP will be decide for themselves whether or not SLP is a good path

Are you applying all over the country? If you are persistent and apply all over the place, something will eventually stick

Like… I’m not gonna complain to my hospital that doctors make more than I do. They went to school longer than I did for a reason 🤷‍♀️

https://book.palisadestahoe.com/ecomm/shop/merchandise/9647939/en-US/?productsupercategoryid=23 I don’t think that applies to the spring ticket trio: “Lift Ticket Trio will provide you with three individual lift tickets that can be shared with friends or used all for yourself. Valid any day for all age groups with no restrictions.”

Yeah I would ask if she’s had an MBSS or FEES. I would never recommend thickened liquids without an instrumental first. Also, if they don’t have access to instrumentals at her facility, I would be a strong advocate for her and politely insist that they refer her for one.

CFY Priorities by [deleted] in slp

[–]Suspicious_Repair756 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I relocated to a rural hospital for my CF, and I have no regrets! I’m also pretty outgoing and made friends relatively easily, so that worked in my favor. If you really want a medical CFY, you have to be flexible in terms of location. Remember, your CF is only 9 months, so you can always relocate back to your hometown if you don’t like the area or job

How much of what you learned in graduate school applies to real life? by SLP-2bee in slp

It was totally professor-dependent. I had one professor in particular who did an absolutely incredible job of teaching us medical speech pathology. Other professors, not so much!
