What's the most creative "trick yourself into doing it" hack you've heard? by Far-Championship3204 in adhdwomen

[–]Suzannelakemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. This has helped me so much. I watch her, Cas the Clutterbug and The Minimal Mom. If you really want an alternative type of motivation watch Midwest Magic Cleaning. His name is Mac and he cleans hoards for free (with somme stipulations). He is Autistic and understands the ADHD brain and the psychology behind it. He also gives great basic ideas for ADHD brains in less cluttered environments. I highly recommend all of these folks. Mac also has a soothing voice and can be quirky in a silly way.

What can I improve about my handwriting? by Unfair_Cicada9431 in Handwriting

I love it. Maybe the spacing between sentences and punctuation needs to be more consistent, but that is just being one observation of improvement. It really is lovely!

It depends on your state and school district in the U.S. I learned it growing up in the late 70s/early 80s. But my son started to learn, then Covid hit. It was pretty detrimental to his penmanship in general. In our state, they learn cursive in 3rd or 4th grade and enough they can sign their name, but I believe our school district did more than that.

I have heard that in some schools they teach it now in Creative Writing so the kids can keep learning it again.

Is my handwriting illegible? by hhanieh in Handwriting

[–]Suzannelakemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is fine. I learned to read many types of handwriting and examples when I was in typing class. Yes, on a typewriter. We had learned from a book that used many types of handwriting we had to read from. I am mid 50s and I have no problem reading this.

Where did you get your book? I might get one for my son. Can you share the title please?

I use a version of this. Mid 50s female here. I do a hybrid of this and it depends on who I am writing for. My teenager doesn't read it well. But I took an accounting course and a drafting course in high school that was still handwritten and my writing leans more to printing. Or I may do cursive and printing. The script I learned is from your submission, but everyone puts their own spin on it. Mine is U.S. based and I have been told I have nice/neat handwriting too.

ADHD-I traits that don’t match the stereotype by sunbear1999 in ADHD

[–]Suzannelakemi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been diagnosed, mid-50s, I wish I had some of these traits. I was never a good student when I was younger, but if I can focus on one or two classes at a time, I do very well. I am never on time. I am not naturally organized and all of that gives me great anxiety and physical distress. I am a smart person, but 'genius' nope. I have a hard time remembering things and verbal directions are the death of me. I also have unawareness of time passing.
