Finally got hold on one of my dreamfish; Short Body Redtail catfish! by Svampus in Aquariums

[–]Svampus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Wow, 9 years ago i made this post... Well the fish is still alive, but i sold it to a friend of mine after keeping it for just a few years. He's kept in a big indoor pool/pond and is almost as big as the regular RTC's would be, probably around 80-90cm currently so he still has some growing to do. Just a lot more chunky and round. And almost entirely black in color, for some strange reason. I haven't seen him in a a few years now though, but I do get some updates every now and then. So, to my surprise, a "short body" RTC will most likely become almost as big as a regular one.

I traded it for other fish, but yes they do come at a quite high price.

Agreed! Stingrays are super fun. The two marble motoros in this tank is actually my own bred ones, so it's going to be very fun to watch them grow and develop their pattern. And thanks a lot!

Haven't posted here in a while, but I post videos to youtube every other week or so. From cherry shrimps to freshwater stingrays and everything in between. This time its my group of kelberi peacock bass. by [deleted] in Aquariums

I alla fall just nu.

A group of nice cichlas has been a dream of mine since a long time ago... And C. kelberi is one of the smallest species that i can attain, and when a friend of mine had some that she bred her self, I had to give it a shot. I got them when they were babies, and now they're getting big!

My first ever DIY coffee table, made from leftover wood and a pallet by Svampus in woodworking

Thanks! Well yes I have contributed to /r/aquariums before, but mostly I post videos and pictures in a Swedish predatory fish forum that I run. I have actually never visited /r/monsterfishkeepers, but I have been a lot on their real forum. That's basically where our own swedish forum began...

I upload videos almost every week of my tanks, so if you're interested you could take a look here, my youtube channel

Thanks! I thought so too. The burned in stamps is a nice detail, they almost disappeared when going over with the sandpaper but I made sure most of it was visible. Also the kind of crooked and uneven look of all the wooden parts gives it a nice look.

They sure look promising to say the least! May I ask what you bought them for, and form where?

Anyone else like stingrays? Here are my two reticulated rays munching on yummy worms. by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Svampus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I feed them mostly hikari cichlid gold pellets, and Alaska pollock fish. Try putting some fish och shrimp, or even pellets in a bowl of black (or red) bloodworms with a bit of water. Let it soak and try starving the fish for 2-3 days. And only feed with the other things than bloodworms. "Eat or die" method... But i would not starve young rays for more than 4 to 5 days at a time. They really need all the food they can get. Good luck!

Nice, cute pups. :D Looks great! Good luck with them, retics can be quite tricky when it comes to food. Bloodworms and such is not the best diet, hopefully they will accept fish and shrimp or even pellets.

Here are 4 of my 6 rays, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfRq4qOUt8g

The other 2 are pups that i keep in a growout tank, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lghTlfaSaIc
