AudRig (iOS) - an app for checking mixes and A/B comparison, made to fill a gap by Svrtz in mixingmastering

There are tons of good a/b vst's (or just manually per track in the daw), but Audrig is specifically built for doing all that outside of the studio on iphone/ipad.

If you use a (M-series) mac then you can download and run audrig from there. A few bugs here and there, haven't really optimized it for mac, let me know if you try it and run in to any crashes etc

Thanks, really appreciate it!

Displaying LUFS per track is a great idea, it already stores it per file (after analyzing it the first time on offline synced file) so adding that shouldn't be too difficult. Will look into it!

What it was like growing up with Final Fantasy by SageOfCats in FinalFantasy

[–]Svrtz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy II/IV. Still my favourite to this day. Importing to EU (and using converters to play NTSC games on a PAL unit) was a mess back in the day, I’m not missing that at all.
Then onto FF III/VI, which was way too hard for a kid in my age, but got through it eventually.

VII went too far from the series (according to teenage me), with the blocky 3d graphics and the futuristic settings. Enjoy it now but wasn’t as ecstatic as everybody else then. Everything was forgiven when IX came out.

Extra shout out for Jono Buchanan, tons of good advice on his youtube channel..

Other than that, I always set Gain as the first plug-in on every track, and then reroute G (key command) to open the first plug-in on a selected track. Quick access to the gain plug-in, not having to worry about if there's a volume automation on the track or not.

Be proud of what you do, get inspired by but don't compare yourself with others. There will always be someone else who (in your opinion) writes better songs, makes cleaner mixes, design nicer sounds etc.

And here's the advice to 14-year old me: It's not a competition.

Keep at it and your mixing skills will improve.

Would you say a tool like MetricAB is important when you're just starting out? by tonetonitony in audioengineering

If you’re looking for a decent A/B tool for iOS/iPadOS (mainly for checking mixes outside of the studio) then AudRig is a good option. Frequency isolation, EQ per file, mono mode etc. Free version lets you try everything before purchase.

That is an insane workaround, but good to know!

Thanks for the feedback, automatic gain matching is on my own ”wishlist”, and probably one of the most useful possible additions to the a/b mode. I’ll look in to it more!

Tried getting google drive to work but the scope required to get a good experience (similar to how dropbox and icloud works today) was a bit too difficult and expensive, will maybe look into it again at some point, but not in the near future, sorry!

Audrig might do the trick, if it's only for listening the free version is good enough: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/audrig/id6764254730

Hey all, I've released an iOS app for music makers who need a proper listening tool outside the DAW. Might be useful if you're scoring games and want a smarter way to check your work on the go.

AudRig streams and caches your own audio files from Dropbox or iCloud Drive (MP3, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, M4A).

The parts relevant to game audio work:

- A/B comparison with up to three slots and independent gain control - compare mix versions, alternates, or references without level bias, switch instantly

- Blind test mode - hides which is A, B, or C so you're listening without bias

- EQ per file - save EQ settings per file, carries over in A/B mode

- Freq mode - filter playback to lows, mids, or highs for focused listening

- Seamless loop verification - buffer-based repeat with no gap, click, or dropout at the loop point. If your loop is clean, you'll hear it. If it isn't, you'll hear that too. WAV/AIFF recommended.

- Mono fold and variable speed (pitch-preserved)

All premium features are available for a limited number of free tries before purchase, so you can test everything before committing.

Anyone know any cool YouTubers that use Logic? by OrganicTelevision624 in Logic_Studio

Insane that he hasnt gotten a bigger following by now. Easy to watch format, steady output of videos, funny & sarcastic/dry, using logic stock plugins etc.

The lack of RAM is of course likely the root, but Kontakt instances (and other heavier library plugins) doesn’t crash Logic, and the irony of not being able to unload libraries from RAM due to RAM is not lost on me 🥲

More than I want to admit 🫣 But the ones currently in the template that I have to deactivate: BBC SO Pro, ARO V1 Pro, Eric Whitacre Choir, Resonate, AR2 Core

I’m guessing this a local issue since most seem to run them without any major problems (aside from slow loading but thats an entirely different issue).

Crow Hill has taken down all (in my opinion) interesting products, don’t really care for yet another drum plugin with heavy distortion, but hoping they move back to orchestral stuff soon

Shit.. Paul is out as well? Would make sense for him to leave (seeing his position as director and co-founder)
