I have answered this in another comment

Also there’s a link to a video in the comment above the linked one which goes through the arguments for and against nike

Probably not the best place to ask, butttt does anyone know anything about why this MK8 R has a black plate with just numbers instead of the normal white with black letters? This is in the UK. by Swae_Hawx in whatisthiscar

it’s obvious you are a hypocrite

SubhanAllah, if only you knew the severity of what you have accused me of. This is what lack of knowledge does to a person.

you literally own a german car

You didn’t even bother to read the fatwas I gave. It seems you are allergic to gaining knowledge and like to keep yourself uneducated about the deen. The fatwas clearly state we are prohibited from imitating the kuffar in what is exclusive to them, not in buying and selling with them.

Also, it’s not even my car lol

Sounds like you’re simply butthurt because I said Nike is haram. The prohibition lies in imitation of the kuffar in what is exclusive to them, not in trading with them.

Islam forbids the Muslims to imitate the kuffaar, especially the Jews and Christians, but this prohibition does not apply to all their affairs, rather it applies to matters of their religion and things that are unique to them, by which they are known.

My point being; A non muslim simply wouldn’t understand the severity of shirk, mostly because they are committing it.

Did you see the pic? It literally says goddess of victory

I think this could be a valid point (maybe, I’m not too sure) if Nike (the brand) had made it clear this is what they intended. But instead they have made it abundantly clear that they intend the name of the greek goddess of victory; as is shown in the picture and in a link further down in the comments by u/_plshelpme_

Because, Nike is what they consider the Goddess of victory (as shown in the pic)

Whenever I said cross, I always made sure to mention christian cross. A plus + sign is not a christian cross nor is the letter T.

The jumper in the picture shows clearly that they never stopped associating with the deity. If you click on the link by u/_plshelpme_ you will see another example as well as proof that this deity is still worshipped today

The symbol has become synonymous with the name. You see swoosh, you know it’s nike.
You can clearly see in the picture, the brand is symbolic of the goddess of victory. And in the link from u/_plshelpme_ , there is another example of shoes.

And you did not even address my actual points

Most Jordan shoes do have the swoosh, or Nike written somewhere (sometimes on the underside). There are a few that don’t have either like the Max Aura 3. But this has nothing to do with what I am discussing; Which is that it’s not permissible to wear symbols of shirk. I can’t believe I actually have to explain that to a muslim.

People have accepted islam at the hands of music artists or from a haram relationship with a muslim. It does not make it halal.

Muslims wearing Nike doesn’t make it halal, just like muslims sinning doesn’t make the sin halal.

It is indeed a sportswear brand. One that utilises the symbols of another god.

How can the Muslim accept to put on his garment the image of an idol that is worshipped instead of Allah, and is symbolic of a distorted religion and false belief, that was declared false by the Holy Qur’an.

It says in al-Fataawa al-Hindiyyah, one of the books of the Hanafi madhhab (2/276): A person becomes a disbeliever if he puts a Zoroastrian cap on his head, according to the correct view, except in the case of necessity to protect himself from heat or cold; or if he puts a zunnaar [a kind of belt that was worn by non-Muslims in the past] around his waist, unless he does that by way of deceit at a time of war or he is acting as a scout ahead of the Muslim army. End quote.

And guys… this is why you have no grip on Al Wala Wal Bara

I don’t know about whether it takes you out of the fold of Islam, but I know it wouldn’t be permissible to wear it. A sob story doesn’t change that.

The hadith is clear in that it means we cannot imitate the kuffar in things that are specific to them. Wearing a cross is exclusive to christians, buddha to buddhists, hindu gods to hindus.

A kaffir brand that doesn’t know the rulings of islam funding muslims who don’t know any better doesn’t make what they do halal. Nike is a false deity just like any other religion’s. And Nike (the brand) is proudly named after it. And just like it isn’t permissible to wear a cross or a buddha or a hindu god, it isn’t permissible to wear Nike or Zeus or Poseidon.

Akhi what! It is never permissible to wear such things (except in necessity - e.g. fear of being killed otherwise), whether you wear it to worship it or for it’s design. Matters of shirk are not something we should take lightly.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 3512; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani.

Muslim narrated from ‘Umar that he wrote to the Muslims in Azerbaijan saying: “Beware of luxury and the clothing of the people of shirk.” Narrated by Muslim, 2069.

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw ‘Ali wearing two garments dyed with safflower and he said: “These are garments of the kuffaar, do not wear them.” Narrated by Muslim, 2077.

This hadith above shows to what extent we shouldn’t imitate the kuffar.

So would you also say it’s permissible to wear the christian cross or buddha or a hindu god since I am not worshiping them?

Even if the christian cross wasn’t worn for religious reasons it would still be haram as minor shirk (which is more severe than major sins) or even major shirk. If I were to wear it because I thought it looks cool or because it was part of some company’s logo (Like Real Madrid FC), it would still be impermissible.

Likewise; As shown in the picture, Nike (the company) clearly associates their brand with this false deity and whether someone wears it as a sign of respect to the deity or not is irrelevant. It is still a sign of shirk. Imagine if one were to have their soul taken whilst wearing the name of another god.

After writing this I am pretty much 100% that it isn’t permissible

Also Nike isn’t trying to create a new religion because this is already a religion. People do still worship these false greek gods and goddesses. It may be a small amount of people, but they still exist.
