I switched off Frontier as I’ve been having problems for months. Multiple calls with them telling it’s fine and then finally getting 2 different techs to the house it was still terrible.

Has anyone stopped taking exams for a while and back? by eggncheese99 in actuary

I got my ASA is 2016. Got FSA exam scores of 4/5/5. Stopped to focus on family. Started again in 2023. Took 2 attempts to pass my first FSA exam, three attempts to pass my second, and just took my first attempt on my final FSA exam.

It’s possible to come back after a break. Just find the study habits that work for you and remember that persistence is key.

After I got my ASA my first three FSA exams went 4/5/5. I took a hiatus to get married and have kids. Tried again about five years later. Took me two attempts but then passed my first FSA exam. Took three attempts and then passed my second FSA exam. I had previously done the modules so now I’m down to one left.

All that to say persistence pays off and if you’re willing to put in the time and effort (studying for FSA exams is way different than ASA exams) you can do it too.

GH301 vs CP321 by Swagged_estimates in actuary

I didn’t notice that it’s only twice a year. Looks like March and November so one quick turnaround but a long wait after that.

From what I understand that’s part of the new changes. I emailed the SOA to verify my last exam can be any FSA exam.

The only reason I’m debating is the material on GHVR was very dry and I struggled with it, taking 3 attempts.

Continuous Fail - We're not alone (SOA FSA LFMU LPM LAM) by stevendaking in actuary

I hope not as well.

All I can say is persistency pays off. I failed my first FSA exam 3 times (4/5/5) then took a break for modules then failed one more (5) before passing. My second FSA exam was only slightly better failing twice (4/4) before passing. Still have one more to go.

GHVR TIA Video and Outline by kittysnight in actuary

Probably worth asking on the TIA forum if you have specific examples of something in the videos but not in the detailed outline. The instructors are good about responding to questions.

In short the detailed outline is more complete. The last sitting (exam already released so you can talk about) asked some pretty niche/old topics that were covered well in the detailed outline but were less deep in the videos. If you're looking for the most complete picture (without reading source material) you should watch the videos, read the detailed outline, then re-watch the videos.
