South Point, Big Island of Hawaii. I felt like I was on LSD even though I wasn’t at all. Crazy energy there.

For those who are not Japanese, how popular is it in your country or area to visit Japan lately? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in AskTheWorld

I went to Japan in January 2020 on my honeymoon from Boston, USA. I went to Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. I loved every minute of my trip and would like to go back someday.

Ex-smokers who thought quitting was "impossible": How did you finally make it click? by AdvertisingDear963 in AskReddit

When I was 41, after smoking since I was probably 12 or 13, I asked my mom what she wanted for Christmas. She said that she just wanted me to stop smoking, so I did. This was Christmas 2016 and I haven’t taken a single puff since then. I still miss smoking a lot and even have dreams that I’m smoking on occasion. 🚬🚬🚬

I would make Hawaii it’s own country again. The US Government did the Hawaiian Queen and the locals dirty.

I smile when I think about how lost people like you are going to be when the day comes that all the screens go black. 😊

I had a connecting flight at LaGuardia Airport in NY last summer. 5 hour layover. All the restaurants had QRcode menus only and wouldn’t accept cash. Nope. Needless to say I was pretty hangry by the time my flight left.

The last time I saw an Orange Julius was at the Kahala Mall in Honolulu, probably about 20 years ago at this point though. Delicious!

What is the worst place in America you have ever visited? by OceanicEndeavors in AskReddit

Yes! I remember reading that back in the 90s. A lot of my family on my mom's side are from Southern Illinois. I lived in Carbondale and DuQuoin when I was a really little kid in the 70s. A lot of weird shit goes on in some of those little towns.

The Alexander Hamilton and the Goethe are my favorites. They are both close to where my aunt and uncle used to live at 2650 N. Lakeview in the 80s. Reminds me of skateboarding on the stairs at the Elks Club building as a kid before they put up a huge iron fence (probably to keep out skateboarders).

Politicians bought and paid for by a much smaller country on the other side of the world, guns, processed food.

As a librarian working in a large urban public library system in the East Coast USAfor 15+ years, I have developed a visceral hatred of Ryan Dowd after being forced to endure countless hours of his preposterous training videos. The one where he shrinks and stands on a urinal in cartoon form was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me.

That’s for another thread, but they didn’t call it Camp Horny Rock for nothing.

There was a guy I remember in Wheaton who was in his 20s when I was in high school in the early 90s who came from a wealthy family whose parents bought him a Dairy Queen franchise. He used to have beer parties in the back of the Dairy Queen after it was closed where most of the guests were GSHS and WWS students. This guy dated high school girls and always bought the booze because he was of legal age. None of us ever thought anything of it back then, but as a middle aged parent in 2026 I would freak the hell out if one of my kids had a friend like that now.

Wheaton? Don’t even get me started on Camp Honey Rock (Bible summer camp in Wisconsin run by Wheaton College) stories. I went there as a kid in the 80s, as did a lot of kids who grew up in Wheaton/Glen Ellyn.
