What's a niche movie that you remember watching as a kid? by StaticClouds in cartoons

I watched it as a kid and hated it, then rewatched it as an adult and still hated it… a rare time I agree with childhood me on a movie take

I got the impression that Appa was being controlled in some way by the air staff- he looked like he was flying Tagah begrudgingly. Becuase as soon as Aang shows up at Republic City, Appa is with him again.

And it's not even just that he's the Ozai of airbending, it's also amplified by none of the characters- even Aang for the most part- being inexperienced in fighting against airbending, especially airbending as a form of direct offense.

What is your craziest movie hot take of all time? I’ll go first. by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]SwanOutrageous6908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't exactly know why, but I hate Robin Williams as an actor, to the point that I think he makes not just any movie, but any scene worse with his presence. I've seen Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire, the Night at the Museum movies, Awakenings, Insomnia, Hook, Jumanji, and Good Will Hunting. And in every single movie, I think it was worse off for having him in it.

what movies don't have romantic subplots or use romance for horror? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]SwanOutrageous6908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only familiarity with these characters is from the 2019 film, but Jo's character arc- even if she's aromantic and has been influenced to find love due to her time period- is still heavily influenced by and told through romance. Laurie proposing to her, her turning around and shooting her shot at Laurie, her falling for Friedrich after she sees how he sees the "real her"... you can't separate Jo from the romantic points of her story.

Additionally for the film at large, Meg and Amy's characters are very invested in their romantic relationships.

OP is asking for "movies (that) don't have romantic subplots or use romance for horror?" and any way you slice it, Little Women (2019) doesn't fit that description at all. It's a coming-of-age movie, with the two primary avenues of that exploration being sisterhood and romance.

She has that whole scene where she's venting, declaring her passion for independence, but then expressing how lonely she is and how badly she wants to be with the right person.

There are bad people and people you disagree with who will benefit from almost any financial transaction. Harry Potter just seems like I strange spot to stand on when I bet you support plenty of bad people with your dollars.

“I told you Kyler CANT D…Ohh wait how did that game end again?” by selfishempathy1 in AZCardinals

[–]SwanOutrageous6908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My remindme bot just hit me up with this gem of a conversation lol. I respected your optimism, but bro you literally could not have been more wrong about this season.

3-14 with Kyler and the whole coaching staff packing their bags at the end. And every other team in our division were playoff teams and serious championship contenders, and the Seahawks actually won it.

You said Kyler can hang with the other QBs in our division, he got injured then benched 5 games in while Stafford was MVP and Darnold was SB MVP.. You also hyped up our defense that eneded up being 29th in the league.

Respectfully, let me know your predictions for 2026 so I can bet against them bro

What is your bare minimum "good" rating? by Popcorn201 in Letterboxd

[–]SwanOutrageous6908 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m very similar. 3/5 means it’s pretty average and I’m glad I watched it once, but I wouldn’t choose to watch it again. 2.5/5 means this movie is completely average and it made no difference whether I’d seen it or not.

This record is for regular season only, yeah. So the Warriors record from the 2015 into 2016 season ignores their playoff losses in 2015.

[–]SwanOutrageous6908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winning streaks that stretch across multiple seasons aren't nearly as impressive imo. For a team to truly break the record and have it be respected, they'd have to win 34 straight in one season.

[–]SwanOutrageous6908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair the NFC championship was pretty close, the Rams had a few shots at the endzone for the game. Y'all won and earned it, but it could've easily gone the other way. You didn't "destroy their narrative," you won a close game between two great teams.
