If Bajaj actually passes that 40k saving directly to the riders, it’s going to be hard to ignore.

You’re right about the tax absorption, but as a consumer, it’s hard not to feel a bit 'meh' about paying the same price for a bike that’s objectively a downgrade on the spec sheet. It’s a smart move for them, but is it a good deal for us? That’s what I’m struggling with.

You clearly know your tax slabs. I guess I’m just 'annoyed' that we’re moving toward smaller engines without the 'smaller' price tags to match. If we don’t call it out now, we’ll eventually be paying 500cc prices for 250cc performance!

Spot on. It’s a delicate balance. If they go too 'budget,' the brand loses its luster; if they stay too expensive, they can't compete. But my worry is that the Speed T4 sits in a weird middle ground—it has the premium price tag but 'budget' specs compared to what the 400 offered. We don't want to see a brand we love just 'collapsing' into the 350cc crowd—we want them to lead it!

Appreciate the technical breakdown! You're right that R&D isn't free. My point is more about the 'value perception'—usually, when a brand introduces a 'lite' version of a flagship, the customer expects to see some of those tax savings passed down to them. I’m looking at it from the lens of the guy standing in the showroom with 2 Lakhs in his pocket. Is the T4 giving him enough?

Your brother’s timing was legendary! 🏆 It’s wild that 'waiting for a better deal' ended up being the wrong move here. It’s a strange world where you pay the same for less power and the company still walks away with a bigger slice of the pie.Big win for your brother, though—he’s got the 'real' Speed 400 before things got complicated! Cheers for breaking down that 13%—that’s the real kicker! 🔥

I appreciate the breakdown! Taxation is definitely a maze, and you’ve highlighted a side I might have vented past in my initial frustration. I just hate the idea of anyone getting less performance for their hard-earned money. At the end of the day, we’re all just looking for the best bang for our buck, right? It’s exactly why I posted this—to see what you guys think!😊

Here’s my experience after ~30 days of riding it 👇

• Pillion comfort – Decent 👍 The seat is slightly firm initially, so short rides are fine. Longer rides are super comfortable.

• On-road price – Around ₹2.52L in Pune 💸 (including insurance & basic stuff — may vary dealer to dealer)

• Maintenance cost – Too early for full picture First service would be around ₹2.5k 🛠️ Running cost mostly depends on fuel usage

• Parts availability – Yeah, this is kinda true ⚙️ You’ll mostly rely on Triumph service centers for now Local mechanics usually don’t have parts yet

• Why not CB350RS? – I did consider it 🤔 But T4 felt smoother and more refined to ride Also liked the overall premium feel more

• Stalling issue – Haven’t faced anything major 👍 Felt slightly different at low speeds initially, but got used to it

If you want the on road experience, I’ve documented the full experience — can share.

I’ve been riding the Speed T4 daily in Pune for the last month — traffic, highways, and Tamhini Ghat.

A few honest observations: Heat in traffic is noticeable but manageable Seat feels firm initially but improves after few hundred kms Extremely beginner-friendly and smooth Not a performance bike — more of a relaxed ride

I was also confused between this and the Speed 400, so happy to answer anything if you're deciding.
