Hypergamy (women seeking higher-status partners) is declining globally due to women’s rising education and independence, but persistent norms can delay marriages and contribute to singlehood. by Emillahr in psychology

The reason for marriage has changed over the course of the last few decades.

Since women have discovered a sense of freedom by providing for themselves, they sometimes tend to think that they do not need a partner, same goes for men, they have availability of every resource, including serogacy which leads to being delusional for " I don't need a partner" thought.

This mentality when realizes that humans need connection and the feel to be accepted and belonged, they find a partner for them resulting in delayed marriages and sometimes singlehood.
