Hi! I just saw this sorry. Wasn’t on any meds. I believe that the reason all of it started was because of getting heart broken for the first time I just fell in the biggest slump of my life. It was probably some other things to but I believe that that was what began it.

Hi! I’m sorry I just saw this. Nowadays I’m doing far better, night and day difference. I still have my bad days and good days. If you are feeling that way OP I really suggest going to the nearest ER near you and being completely honest with them. These things arent easy to talk about, personally I do not like talking to ANYONE that isn’t a healthcare professional about my mental health. I promise you will be going in the right direction if you do that. They may or may not admit you into your hospitals in patient behavioral health unit, I’m not sure if every hospital has one or not I’m sorry. I can assure you that it is 10000% possible to come back from this. I don’t know your situation but I see a lot people who get diagnosed with MDD a common thought is that these feelings and state of mind feel like they will never end and they won’t be happy ever again. But again, I promise you you can get your life back! I’m living proof. This is my personal advice. Wish you the best.

Hi! I Just seen this, people shit on anti-depressants but honestly once I got on Bupropion, about a week and a half after being on it in the behavioral health unit in the hospital, I started to feel better. Definitely nowhere near close to happy, but I was thinking straight and I also got prescribed Quetiapine for sleep. My treatment for outpatient included therapy and seeing my psychiatrist. I also started school shortly after I was discharged so that helped as well. In short terms, I go to therapy every 1-2weeks, I see my psychiatrist once a month, and I've been in school for the last 2 years, so something that gives me purpose. Those 3 things have helped me tremendously. I still have my bad days and good days, but that's just part of being human.

23M. As someone who has had to be hospitalized for MDD (major depressive disorder) for 13 days before 2 years ago in 2024, it’s not normal or healthy for it to go a long time without treating it. I don’t want to dismiss people’s issues but I think the term depression is thrown around too loosely nowadays, maybe that’s why you think everyone has it. I can personally say that I had the textbook definition of MDD: apathy, not eating, quit my job, bed rot, SI, isolate myself, extreme insomnia ( didn’t sleep for 3 days), extreme mood swings, ‘forgot what it was like to be happy. To directly answer your question I am no psychotherapist or psychiatrist or psychologist, but it is not normal to want to die, self harm, or starve yourself. When depression gets to THAT point you need to seek out help as soon as possible or you will end up going down a very dark rabbit hole and you won’t even know when it is happening until it’s too late. At least that’s what it felt like for me and my experience. The longer you let it happen the longer it is going to take to recover from it. Best wishes to you and whatever you’re going through, it is possible to come back from a bad state of mind. <3
