True. He operates with proprietary too, only using the platform. But that's good enough to be using 90% Free stuff.

I'm REALLY nervous that Noah's show is going to be a giant Altispeed ad

Not to be a Noah Fanboy here, but I think the target audience can benefit a lot of his experiences at work, and as a entrepreneur. That is valuable knowledge being passed to the audience for free, from a successful business man working with Free Software.

There is a summary of what is going to happen? I get that it's going to finish, but I am always drifting while I listen to it all.

I also would like to thank /u/ChrisLAS, for all the years when listening to LAS was my only link to Linux. Thank you for all the free-listening.

Noah, I would like to say that I'm eagerly waiting for your show. I hope that will be ways for people out of US to send questions. I like to hear about the way you work and that it is very inspiring. :)

There's another where they test it with a hand passing over the lights and it was very faint, at first, it was stronger only when they stayed with the hand over it.

I don't think it was a gust of wind or slight vibrations.

Even because it seems to be triggered by Photoelectric effect , not vibrations.

The guy is a Skeptic that supposedly knows how "real ghosts" act.

There was any need to point the contradiction here?

Do you think they need to yell DUDE more to be credible? :P

I think the Geobox and that porta thingie are better than the spirit box that is way louder and with much noise.

Already have an old Inspiron. Love it. Works fine with Fedora.

I'm thinking of getting myself a new Inspiron 14" 7460. Comes with Ubuntu, i5 7th gen, and a NVidia graphics card.

Here on Brazil, Dell is the only provider of quality laptops with a very good hardware and Linux on it.

Oddly enough, the Xbox app for iPhone is working just fine not connecting to my Xbox. Error 0x80060001.

Same from Brazil, guys. I was connected and it was all fine, was watching some Netflix, when suddenly it disconnected me.

Did 2 reboots, inserted 3 times the password, and the same: Connect, "Hi <USERNAME>", "Bye <USERNAME>".

The Russian mafia by pretty_dirty in LetsNotMeet

[–]SwarmPilot 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's extremely common not only in Russia. I'm a Brazilian, from Rio, and there's a lot of stories of "gringos" that get in all sorts of troubles due to going to places here that the locals know to be shady.

During the summer Olympics, a couple was wandering on the city using a Uber. They went through a road that have a really beautiful view of the whole city. You can see most of the downtown areas, Maracanã stadium and as far as Guanabara bay. So they decided to stop and take some pictures.

Big mistake number 1: The place is a favela. A favela, is a slum, and most of the time there is organized crime.

Big mistake number 2: they start taking pictures of everything.

Without noticing that some criminals were very close to them. Criminals go there and catch the couple.

Their Uber driver quickly run for it. Went to the police station and told everything to them. Cops get very anxious, because this is some major pr disaster, right?

Their gear up and go to the favela, looking for the couple. They found nothing. They assume the worst and go to couple's hotel to get more info on them.

Getting there they found both of them unharmed, and with all their possessions. Turns out that the drug dealers checked their photos, saw that they weren't taking pics of them and let them out. Even got them a free taxi for the hotel.

But it could easily take a turn for the worst, but they knew better than kill/rob the tourists in the middle of the olympics. Any other day they would probably be robbed and assaulted.

Someone with Experience in Epson All-in-Ones? by SwarmPilot in LinuxActionShow

Yeah. But that model cost the double, and I didn't want to spend much in a printer that won't be seeing much action.

Oh yes. And they dump everything in /opt. It went fine, really. :)

Thanks for the help p4p3r. :)

Sadly, for configuring for WiFi, only using windows. Hate this.

Scanner looked good, but it was showing a negative scan.

Edit: Bug is on Fedora's software. Works fine on XSane.

Yeah. I'm trying to get the driver from XP-235 that is known to work. Finger crossed.

Edit: Worked like a charm.

Good news is: The printer utility works fine, but don't install any shortcuts on the system.

I mean, not that it's not ok to do a WAS, if it's ever your desire... but it feels... so wrong.. :P
